We should do a meet-up for Southern NY, maybe NJ, CT or even PA. I've been to 1 each of the last 3 months so I'd like to keep the streak going.

Is there any chance there is anyone near Schenectady with 2nd Gen suspension experience? I'm in the middle of Toytec/5100 lift and could use some guidance.

After installing the 5100s in the front I'm having trouble reconnecting the ball joints. The weight of the truck doesn't seem to be enough to compress the spring. Also not sure if the alignment cams are loose enough on the LCAs...they never dropped out of the way.

Not an expert by any means, but your LCA bolts might be seized up.

I took my LCA bolts out and applied a bunch of anti-seize and then re-installed.

Before you loosened those LCA bolts, did you paint on witness marks on the alignment cams? That would allow you to bring the alignment back to previous, until you get to an alignment shop

put the jack on the LCA to help it back up. Once the ball joints are connected, the weight of the truck will be able to compress it

I’m guessing the lower ball joint? So you are going to want to put a bottle jack under the ball joint on the LCA. Very gentle start jacking it up until you get it high enough to thread the bolts in and reconnect. You don’t want to go to crazy or you’ll jack the truck up off your stands. This has happened to me before. The CAM bolts are probably still a little seized up so it’s not allowing the control arm to move freely. Just take you time on it and it should get close enough to engage the bolts.

This, or you can pry down on the UCA with a pry bar if jacking up the LCA starts lifting the truck up

Thanks again to all for advice, I used a little bit of all of it! Pryed down on the uppers, hammered the camber bolts to loosen them, and jacked the ball joint up slightly. My truck is now 3” taller...and my AT3s look small. Bumper and winch after I restock the piggy bank.
