Unfortunately I'm in the ADKs so it'd be a hike, I appreciate it though

I have so many things to do. I am trying to get the inside done first. Seat covers and plastic film for radios and dash. I can buy trd factory lift for $600. I may do it, but I really would like to go Bilstein or Fox. Anyway 2-inch lift and 33s makes them very capable. I like my TRD skid as it gives you a little better approach angle. I went through P Smiths yesterday all the gaits are closed. Terry Mtn has access from S side. .

Winch bumper won't be nearly as useful as a good skid and some sliders around this part of the country imo, I wouldn't bother with the cat shield if you armor up as well. I still don't have bumper just yet and have no problems wheeling hard with the aforementioned

I'm new to truck mods so I'll definitely look more into armor. Seems cheaper (mostly) to get skids than a bumper anyway for the moment. Any concern with salty slush getting stuck on top of skids and rotting them?

The Moose River Plains trail stays open after hunting season starts, so for anybody looking for some light fall offroading in the Southern ADKs, that might be a good spot for you. Just hit it up today myself, nice to get in before the leaves fall for the most part.

They are aluminum and have a powder coat finish on them. They hold up and also have some drain holes

New, downstate member here, just got my truck 2 weeks ago. My buddy's family has a place on Cedar River Rd about a mile before Brown's Farm if you're heading toward the MRP. Been snowmobiling through the MRP for years, never went through on anything but a snowmobile though. Beautiful area. How long does it take to get from the ranger station to the Inlet side by truck?

I didn't actually have time to go all the way that particular day, wound up turning around ~5 miles in. The last time I did the whole thing was a few years ago, I think it can take anywhere from an hour or so to several hours if you wanna take your time. There are enough side roads and spots to stop to make it worth a day trip.

@adkmac cool. I figured it would be a couple of hours if you drove straight through at an easy pace. Might have to get up there for a long weekend and a ride through the plains in the truck sometime.

Hi Everyone....thought I'd throw this flyer out here.

I'm in the Rochester/Syracuse area. I'm in the process of replacing my rear axle seals and wheel bearings, but have neither the press or special tool needed. Any chance any of you are in my area or know of anyone in my area that might be able to assist/loan me these?

There is a small local shop in my town that does mainly Toyota/Lexus work and he said he'd do $90 an axle which is not a bad price at all. Truthfully though I'd prefer to do my own work as I like to learn how to do things myself.

If I have too I'll end up buying what I need, but figured I'd see if there were any connections out there first.

    Thanks for any feedback.

Axle seal is somewhat easy. I would have wheel bearings pressed in at a shop.

I'm confident I can do this myself as long as I have the tools. Might take more hours to complete the job, but my hours are free for me.

True that. If you can get a press that would be a good start. Also, you may not need bearings. My first axle seal blew at 230k and bearing was fine. I did not replace until 300k and only because I already had the parts. Make sure to check your breather.

They have been leaking for a long time. The backside of the backing plates are covered on each side as well as the inside of the drum on the passengers.

The breather was most definitely the cause....the thing was covered in hardened dirt when I got it. All clear now, but the damage is done. I pulled the passenger axle last weekend and as I suspected the bearing has a lot of play (I wasn't surprised, when I test drove it I could hear what I believed to be bearing wear at the time). Haven't checked the driver's side, but I imagine it's the same.

Either way....the truck is new to me with 243k on it so I figure might as well start off on the right foot. Doesn't hurt that I got the bearings from Partsouq for ~$45 a piece.

Now to source a press. I hate buying things new....I'm cheap, hence buying a Tacoma with 243K on it
