    Hello,

I potentially might be making a career shift and was looking at a company in Savannah. So, naturally I come to my TW family to get info.

Anyone on here live in around Savannah? How is cost of living? Lots to do; i.e. - camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc.

Basically let me know the ups and downs!! Help is appreciated!

I work about 2.5 hours north of there, just south of Augusta.

I've been here 3 years now. Plenty to do, but you have to travel a bit to find a good trail for your wheeling needs. Hunting and camping is great. Fishing is top notch. Food is better than expected. Cost of living depends on what area you choose. In general it's rising quickly. Only downside that I've noticed is the community doesn't love new comers. Lots of incumbents that go several generations deep. Makes it a bit clicky. Oh and the crime. We moved a lot closer to the water last year and it's made a world of difference for the better.

I haven't been yet either, just working in the SE region. I'm hoping to make a trip out there this summer though.

I'm active duty military and I'm stationed at Fort Stewart, which is just down the road from Savannah. So far I like the area cause of the beach and what not. Haven't been able to really explore mostly due to not having tires I feel comfortable pushing in this unforgiving sandbox that I now live in since I moved from around the D.C. area.

yeah it's my first duty station. I just say sandbox because it's horrible here, and I try to keep my colorful language down so I uphold somewhat of a decent military image online haha

I really appreciate your info! That is very helpful!

Nothing set in stone yet, just getting a feel for a potential job offer down there. Just have to wait and see!

I'm in a rather large aircraft company there and have a lot of contacts.

I love the area. There is a shit-ton to do. Fresh/saltwater fishing can't be beat. Not bad hunting, either. It's flat land so not much in the way of hiking, but hell, north GA isn't but 3 or so hours away. Nothing mountain bike-wise, either, although I find places. If you love history, this is more than the place.

I see you are from MI so the summer and lack of winter will take some getting used to, as its in the upper 90s with matching humidity most of the time. However, the food, scenery, and cooch is top-notch. And Charleston isn't but 2 hours down the road which I like even better.
