I was talking with @SubaruTheTacoma about getting a KDMax tune on my Tacoma. He mentioned that if I can organize a group of at least 9 other people besides myself, he would be able to come to the area and get us tuned, so I thought I would give that a try.

The tune and labor will cost $375. This comes with a tune file for your truck, credits to unlock your truck with the software, TSB updates (if needed), and his service.

I live in Santa Cruz (new to the area), but I feel like the San Jose area would be a bit easier for people.

Date is TBD as it is dependent on if and when there are enough people to fill the list.

If you are interested I will add your name to the list.

Yes it appears so. Apologies, I probably should have put that in the title.

It appears that this tune gives a bit more power over the OV Tune, and I believe the shift points are improved over the OV, which doesn’t really effect me since I have a manual. The linked thread should answer most questions. Everyone who ran OV prior seems to think KDMax is a big improvement. I saw people reporting slightly better MPGs.

I haven't gotten a tune yet but curious if you considered the CVC tune? CVC is local to the Bay and only charges $250.

I actually have considered it and reached out to the guy about it but never got a response back. I am not too sure what the differences between the tunes are, but I’ve read nothing but good things about both.

Just found this thread. Recently put a ton of weight on the truck and she’s definitely sluggish now. I’m in Santa Cruz and work in San Jose so put me on the list!

Hey there, this thread has been replaced with this one, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cvc-tune-group-buy-sf-bay-area-late-june-july-2021.725089/

I got tuned last Saturday in Fremont as part of the group buy. Looks like the next closest one will be in Union City on the 25th.

Manual here too. Have OV tune already from the way back when days. On the fence with adding KDMaxx. Seems like a shame to double pay for something with often anecdotal reviews. Almost all the people who commented on the improvement were coming from stock. Want to know the improvements from OV tune.
