I would say go with the E-Revo or the Summit. Both have waterproof electronics and both are fast. They have one version with a brushless motor and one with a brush version. The brushless is faster but more expensive.

I like all of them, but that new Summit is bad @ss in my opinion. Do a little rock crawling with it with the high-low transmission and remote locking differentials.
I think the decision should be on what you want to do with your truck, Racing, Playing, Rock climbing, speed.

is your kit brushless or standard? you wanting to go LiPo or stick with standard NiMH?

i found this site http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_index.asp...they seem to have some pretty good deals. i've been buying "takeoff" batteries on ebay. just the stock NiMH for my mini revo. it seems a lot of hobby stores disassemble new trucks and pimp them out, then they sell the stock parts for reasonable prices. example: http://cgi.ebay.com/3908-Traxxas-E-...Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5ad620cc0e

i would eventually like to go LiPo for my revo, but don't have the funds at the moment.

Have you ran the truck yet? a buddy of mine has been thinking about getting one...he's sick of not being able to run his nitro model due to the frigid temps this year. i can't wait for better weather...my big revo hasn't had a drop of fuel in it yet.

No, I havent even gotten one yet, still lookin at them. So the LiPo's are worth it? Gonna need like 2 set of batteries right? If I get one it will probably just be the standard. I need to go down to the hobby shop again and check them out. I am thinking the E-maxx or summit. thanks for the links.

I went and checked some local shops and did some more research online and this is what I came up with

E-revo-$439 No batteries, no charger. If I buy batteries would obviously go LiPo, $110 (from the shop) and a charger $110ish (from the shop). so right there, already up to $659

E-Maxx-$400 No charger. Cheaper route, but hearing they are pretty britle. Suspension is not as good as the E-revo.

Summit-$530 no charger. great crawling rig, but not as good as the others on track settings. I have a buddy who has one and is saying go with the Revo.

So With spending damn near $650 or more on a regular revo, i'd probably just got with the Brushless edition for $639. What do you guys think?

i don't have any right now but i had several in the past...monogram lightning, tamiya super hornet, rc10t3, traxxas nitro rustler, hpi savage25.....the gas powered ones will go really fast but they just require so much work/maintenance.....with a job i just have no time for it....i been thinking about maybe getting an electric one again....a truck would be cool...a friend of mine had a traxxas revo...that truck was awesome....maybe if they make an electric revo....hmmm

the Mamba Monster E-revo will run 65+ mph out of the box with the right batteries! (brushless) i'm still not sure of the exact differences, but it seems the magnet/armature design is flipped on the brushless motors compared to a brushed. the brushless motors are more efficent and can handle more power. i'm thinking the E-Revo with the Caslte Mamba motor is like $629 or so...i paid $549 for my Revo 3.3 Nitro model for comparison. my nitro will only run ~45mph stock. my 1/16 scale brushless E-revo will do ~50 mph with two bateries in series. i'm still trying to get learned about LiPo batteries currently...somewhat confusing. so far i've figured out: LiPos are lighter, generally will give longer run times per charge, can hold more power in a smaller package, and they require some attention to detail from a charging standpoint. i do know one thing for sure...LiPo batteries + brushless motor setup = HAUL ASS! LOL

I have been into R/C stuff since a little kid. I used to have all nitro but now have all electric. Brushless motors are the shizznit. I have had my Rustler Vxl up to 73mph with the right tires and spur gear and pinion gear and a 3 cell lipo. My current line up is Traxxas E-Maxx, Rustler, Stamped, Summit and Losi Mini Baja and Mini mslt2. If anyone has any questions about R/C stuff I can probably help them. Like if something isn't working transmission, motor etc.

i kinda like the look of the emaxx....it looks like a truck...the erevo looks more like a car....they both go the same speed...i guess the only difference is the suspension design

The E-maxx is a little big bigger. It has a higher ground clearance then the E-Revo. The E-maxx has eight long shocks compared to the revo's four shorter shocks. Both are good for bashing and fooling around but the E-revo can be set up to be more track oriented then the E-maxx.

What would be a good battery and charger to get with the E-revo?

I have a charger by Dynamite, it's at least 4 years old so it may be outdated. It can charge 1-8 cell Ni-Mh or Ni-cd or 1 to 3 cell lipo. If your new to rc go with the Ni-mh batteries. They are much more forgivable for everyday use. For example I recently dropped two 7 cell Ni-mh battery's right into some frozen water and I had to scoop them out after they were fully submerged. So far I have used them and they work perfect. For Lipo's one time I forgot to strap it down with my rustler while doing some speed tests and my rustler flipped like a quarter of a mile away. It landed face up so I was like great I don't have to go get it. On the way back I saw some sparks coming from underneath. I stopped running it and when I went to pick it up some of the lipo balancing wires had frayed. I didn't want to mess with fixing it so I had to throw out a 100plus 3-cell lipo. Don't get me wrong Lipo's are fun. If your going to run brushless lipo's really bring out the power in them. If your just starting out I would get the Ni-Mh, then upgrade to lipo's.
