its mainly for having fun while bashing

The only type of racing that this could be beneficial is SC in a loamly track where you can allow the rear end to swing around and "flat track" around the corners

Got ya. I know I can tell when my ball diffs need rebuilding and start to get a little notchy. The ass starts acting up, and corners become challenging.

That's exactly how my track is going to end up being. I'm putting a pretty hot brushless setup in my SC10 and I just don't want to have to deal with my diff giving me problems. More than anything I want the strength out of the spool. And the fact that it'll slide super easy is a plus. I'm fairly certain that a real CORR/TORC truck would be running a spool anyway.

the spool won't add any strength, it'll just put more stress on the drive cups and wear out your dog bones

if anything you'll want your gear diff with some heavy weight fluid

Does a SC10 have a ball or gear diff from the factory?

Affirmative. Mine came with the RTR gear. thinking about just tuning it as tight as I can. Apparently if I lock it up completely it'll understeer hellah bad on pavement. And I LUFF skateparks.

I just assumed they had balls. I love the scale appearance and all, but never really checked one out very close. Figured they were similar to the T, or B series.

I'm fairly certain that the T4 is pretty much the same thing. A lot of people convert their old T4's to SC10's nowadays.

I thought so, but again never checked one out that close. Do they even make gear diff sets for a T/B? I've never bought anything but the Factory Team version kits. I know they offer two different grades of balls for the center gear and thrush assembly (steel and carbide). I thought that was the difference in the RTR vs FT trannies, well the machined blue mount of course. I now use nothing but ceramic balls in both places, with a syn grease for thrush system, and another syn lube for diff balls. They last way longer between rebuilds.

^^^^^ up the street from my house! They're actually starting to maintain the track more. Last year they changed up the track lay out 3 times and before that they had the same one forever! I've been going weds night. It gets pretty fun its funny watching everyone trying to clear the first double and break their cars, never fails. Maybe we can head out some time to the track .
