Lol yeah I did that earlier, isn't that how you're supposed to do it?

For the rear I had to undo the upper link bracket, but that's because it also holds the diff cover. But once undone, it'll swivel like in your picture.

Easy to do since the bolts for the upper link mount are facing out towards the rear.

I would've but I thought you smarter dudes would've told me "DUH" and laugh at me if I did :bananadead:

I had opened her up when we were talking about that video you posted. Since I couldn't turn the wheels by hand, I quickly popped off the diff cover by the way I mentioned above.

I'm surprised the bearing sitting inside the axle housing comes out easily with the worm gear itself, and that's when I noticed it only has one o-ring (I left it alone as is).

I gotta admit, I've wanted to leave them alone until I experience what you're fixing right now.

And I've been too lazy to order any real grease for these things as I was just gonna use redline in it when I need to.

Found it. Thankfully my sister is my mail lady and she hid it for me so it didn't blow away.

I ended up putting in a .5 thickness shim in the rear and all binding is completely gone

Y'all know how Amain is only 4-5 hours from my house.

Then the Micro they shipped sat in Sacramento, just 3 hours from my house?

They shipped it to Texas

@Strictlytoyz my NSDRC rear plate arrived separately

    20250131_084756.jpg

And she's all ready to go!

I'll be using Palm Power 2S lipo but they don't arrive until Monday. I'll be keeping the PH 2.0 plug though so at least I can test it with my SCX24 battery.

    20250131_093501.jpg

Even this tiny thing crawls nice and slow.

    20250131_093541.jpg

This is as "tidy" as the wiring will be, least it sits easily under the body.

    20250131_093743.jpg

    20250131_093621.jpg

Now the hardest part that's left is gluing the body magnets :annoyed:

The rear plate is awesome. I hated how little room I had on my Redcat with the servo wire coming out of the side. Kind of a PITA to install, though.

Get it on some obstacles! Looking like I'll be done sooner rather than later. Servo and rear hinge have a scheduled delivery of Wednesday. So close!!!!

Also, LGRP has gone radio silent after I responded and gave them a link to their own video of assembling the super 8's. Now that it's working as should I'm happy with it. Not happy with LGRP though. Skeptical with using any more of their stuff. Tires and stuff sure, but anything drivetrain....idk

    Noted!

My servo hasn't shipped yet being a pre-order and all so I'll run my Reef's for the meanwhile.

Think more and more I'll end up placing my TX/RX and just biting the bullet with a Futaba. Mainly to set my end points because my tires turn enough to hit my shock bodies.

I would but I don't really have obstacles here

Plus the kiddo is having fun on his slide -

I'll see later if I can set up cardboard ramps and test run my axles to see about setting the preload correctly.

@Deathbysnusnu what did you end up running exactly and where did you place said o-rings?

    Does suck about LGRP's silence.

Their stuff really looks good, but when I saw those Super 8's and just how incomplete they were (no upper link mount, no servo mount) I was like man...I don't know if I want to go that route.

Who knows, I may do so in the future cause I like punishing myself :bananadead:

At least your setup runs well!

I tried several variations of O-rings, shims, washers, even replaced the grease with graphite based grease, which made it worse.
At one point I chucked the driveshaft in a drill, and let it rip, hoping to maybe get a bit of a "lap" on the gears. No change, but it was kind of stress relieving.
In the end, the best configuration for my axles was one O-ring at the back of the worm, nothing else, and replace grease with the Harbor Freight red stuff. Still a tiny catch goiin downhill forward, but can be lived with. Going down in reverse, absolutely smooth.
