I'm betting someone just went gorilla on it and yanked everything out

I just watched a quick video. There's literally no disassembly of anything. Just remove the cap, pull pinned wires, run new cap, insert grommet, and done.

    Nice, well that's good!

I'm stoked I finally get to break this thing in on the course tomorrow.

Granted I'll only have one battery with me. I may purchase one at the store and ask that they charge it for me while I'm there

That or just take a charger with me.

Lucky! I'm almost there. It'll be fully built this week and then I'll get to tinker and see what's gotta move where.

This is essentially how my electronics will look. Esc on driver skid, tx on passenger skid. Need to loom the rest of the wires. Just waiting on body hinge so I can make sure everything fits okay before sticking everything on and tightening the zip ties

    Setup looks good, clean!

By the way, your front tires are backwards, swap them from L to R

Even though I filled my shocks when I first mounted things up, I find they just finally sunk and stayed in a compressed state.

Added the front springs on earlier today, and I'll add the rear springs tomorrow before we head out.

Didn't get many pics since I was on and off keeping the kid's attention; wife was with me but he was being impatient

I did flop over maybe some 3 times but a bit of that is due to inexperience of course.

Really though, the rig is more capable than I am already. Was hitting lines first try that another guy struggled with a lot

Until you are going in between gates the line you drive is nothing and impossible to compare to another rig.

Then add a timer during competition and the anxiety/stress of performing in front of others.

It's all toys trucks in the end.

I did, only to realize when I went in that they don't exactly follow the actual comp rules so that sort of throws my build out the window. At least for this local shop.

I asked about gate widths and they said for most of their comps (outside of "Unlimited") they use a 170mm wide gate or something.

The crawler scene is fragmented due to rulesets and nothing being standard and agreed upon and also events held to those standards to make them worth following. That goes for tenth scale and 24th from what I see on Facebook discussions. There are at least 3 organized bodies with different rules. Some trying to get in line with others. Some saying we only do one scale etc. everyone has their own ideas of how they want it done.

Like I said at the end of the day they are toy trucks and should be fun. I didn't mean to kill the buzz.

You're good; you aren't wrong though about the whole 'stress of a timer' and all that.

That sort of thing applies to everything (used to compete in extended long range shooting as well as 3gun).

    Resized_20171104_075514.jpg

There's a lot of pressure when you're trying to hit a 36" metal gong at almost 3,000 yards away :anonymous:

That was on my DTA shooting .338LI.

I just had a ton of fun and can't wait until I figure out the "rules" of my local shop and attempt to compete in it.

We had a strong scene on the front range with everyone following sorrca. Then sorrca board turned over and the ruleset was overhauled. Then everyone had to reinterpret their build within the rules. Then 24th gained popularity and instead of sorrca incorporating them Rcmcca came along. Now wercrock has expanded their classes to offer a variety of types of crawler builds. Was originally tube buggies. Rules can kill rc hobbies. Look at drag racing and it's rise and fall. This shit is very niche.

    Yeah, I get that.

Can't imagine how frustrating it is considering how much a person can easily sink into a rig.

Living in a large county, I hope to find at least a few places I can partake in but maybe I can dedicate this current build to what my local hobby shop rules are.

It's a privately owned shop, and they've been in business for many years - I only found out recently that it's the same owner that owned the hobby store some 5 hours north of me! I used to race my X-Ray XB4 there every other Saturday.

    @Deathbysnusnu

I forgot to mention, I was able to crawl up stuff super slow (with all the torque) and it was nice and smooth.

BUT on a descent, it was super noticeable as the rig sort of "sputtered" while that worm gear/driveshaft was loading/unloading.

I should've taken tools and o-rings with me but all I had was my RC and my TX lol no tools, extra battery, nada.
