Man, makes me wonder how much low speed I lost considering I posted a video a week back of my rig slow crawling?

But now you understand why I was confused  the Micro doesn't hesitate even for a second.

I can't remember if I've shared this before, a Hasbro 1/6th scale Willy Jeep push toy converted to RC. At one point, there was 6 of these in a group. One guy had a ravine running down one side of a property line, it was like a scale sized Rubicon trail. Last week, somehow I found myself on the old RCCrawler site and I found my old build thread. Good grief, I built this rig 15 years ago! It doesn't get used anymore, it's been a least 2 years since I powered it up.

35 turn Holmes Hobby Torque Master running through a bone stock AX10 trans under the hood, down to an underdrive disruptor (rc4wd), to narrowed AR60 axles. Solid SS links w/ Revo rod ends for the axle links, SCX10 coil overs. Pin drive rc4wd steelies. Lots of 'old school' stuff that probably isn't available anymore.

GI Joe has a ball socket for a shoulder on his right arm, his hand is glued to the steering wheel which is "Y'd" into the steering servo, so when the wheels turn left or right, the drivers hand turns left or right.

Does it fit the same mount as the mini?

Love it, even without the super slow crawl I feel I have more control now that the truck doesn't wanna jump or lurch foward as soon as it's out of a bind. Just constant steady wheel spin now
No I had to get another mounting plate

Mini uses the 12mm mount whereas the Micro uses the 9mm mount

Believe the 9mm mounting is the standard for SCX24 brushed motors too; I can confirm this tomorrow by opening up my extra Micro and trying to fit it on my factory SCX24 transmission

There was a local guy, Matt, who was really into those. And another guy, Ty, who built a few too I believe. Here is Matt's site.

    https://flat-fender-crawlers.company.site/

He did conversions for folks and they performed really well. GI Joe drivers fit well too. It's nice that there is a push to revitalize rccrawler but it is too little too late at this point I believe

Got to test out some new lines today in the yard. This was before swapping motors. You can really hear the motor struggle and then unload when it frees from the bind.

It's unfortunate that the body is a bit beat up, but that's ok considering the only real use this rig has been on is on the big course.

Servo arrived today with the rear plate installed, so now I've got an extra rear plate!

Since everyone's gone on a diet, the non-brass servo should help drop some grams.

    Naaaaw you're good

Maybe on another build? Im looking at my extra parts for the next build and I'm like, what the heck am I gonna use this Mini for?

So the extra Micro will definitely be used.

    20250211_105817.jpg

The LGRP wheels arrive tomorrow so all I'll need to finish the next build are -

RX, ESC, front axle, driveshafts, body, and shocks.

I got chassis and links coming from that Mazz order.

I've got an SCX10.2 cherokee that I built and dumped way too much money into that I then never used, need to get around to posting it for sale. Electric is cool but I always go back to my HPI nitro's to scratch the R/C itch.

    The Viper fits.

Started by installing the 15 degree skid, not gonna happen with front facing motor, the fat bastard slams right into everything.
So the 10 went back in, and it's close but clears.

Just a couple mm from the driveshaft.

To make it fit, just had to move the body mount forward one hole. And then for now a couple of thin shim magnets to get it to clear the hood. I may be able to clearance the hood, or print another with a functional scoop...

The motor came with a coarse tooth spur/pinion. I was able to reuse the Furitek stuff as it has finer teeth. As a result, I didn't really lose any slow speed.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUAnNl1aFzc
And the torque is waaaaaaaaay better! No more scritchy motor sounds.
Although it is about double the weight. But with the added torque, I'll start fattening up her butt again as needed
I did this just to see how it would do. It's permanent now and just ordered another for the UTB build.

All I'll need to have another complete truck are axles and a servo/mount

A part of me almost wants to go Spider 9 fronts on both the front and rear for a 4 wheel steer :anonymous:

I almost pulled the trigger on a brushed purple Injora setup but held off.

I haven't asked like I normally would, figured they're sick of me since asking about the motor and transmission and all

But their Q/A stated "shipping in Feb" so :notsure:

I can't speak for long term just yet, but it has a load more torque than the Mini did. It seems to run fine with the Furitek Lite. It's a bit louder, just the singing of the bell though. Temp has stayed cool to the touch. I'll be using the Quicrun Mini24 paired with the Viper with the other build.

It is top heavy now. Put the brass rings back in and fitting the bug body with magnets to see if it balances back out. Added 32g below and removed 15g above.

I need to get corner weights again. Thinking of picking up their injection molded rear to lighten up the rear. Gonna throw the rig on the scale after work and see where we're sitting now that I've made changes and moved stuff around
