Yeah the whole nylon rear has been in the back of my mind for the longest for instance - IF I went 4 wheel steer, I would probably forego the Spider 9 idea.

    Why?

I'd probably use a nylon steer in the rear, and aluminum housing steer in the front. For even more up front weight I could use the brass servo there as well.

    Ideas....

I live in Ventura County! Specifically Camarillo area. Martys is a neat spot, not sure if they do crawling comps on their smallish course but they def do carpet track stuff

If your friend was on RCC when these Jerps were the craze, I probably chatted with him. I built some small parts for these big Jeeps for RCP Crawlers. The owner of RCP, he was one of the first ones to convert these jeeps and post up vids of the trail rides. It's what got me hooked. The 1st iterations of these things were pretty horrible, looking back. rc3wd R2 transmissions ( that nuked every time you went for a trail ride) Wheely King axles, Revo plastic driveshafts ( which ironically, I still ran on mine and never broke one), under powered steering servos that couldn't steer the tires when they got into the smallest of binds.

I go into a local HS and look around occasionally, it's amazing what's available these days.

Current weight. Gonna throw the heavier brass knuckles back on now that the motor seems like it can handle it

We're damn close to the same weight!

What scale is that anyway? Maybe I should get one.

These heavier knuckles put me right at that 60/40 weight, also swapped electronics from slider to slider to even it out left to right.

White spokes just fit with a Baja bug.

Viper motor is 28g vs 19g for the Mini.
added 32g back in the wheels, lost some top weight with the lexan. I can bring it down substantially by removing the rollbar, which may be today's project, to print up a substitute rear mount and not cut it out.
With no battery, right at 500.5g.

Lexan really amplifies the motor and drivetrain noise. The printed body makes no difference in sound.

    Thanks guys!
I just realized I've been testing on a 60° slope. 56° was the max before. No wonder it flips over.

When I opened up the package I was like ooooh this have to go with either my Meus axle setup or Hard Park if I decide to go BOA.

Been eyeing that for a little bit. For what you get, it's worth it for sure. Waiting for them to restock some of their stuff. 1/24 is great because literally anything can be a challenge for these little guys

I removed the rollbar entirely, and with just the front magnets it holds well, and that dropped 13.7g of weight. Seems to have improved the climb angle a lot. I'm doing another rear mount that hopefully stays under 5g.
