Let me figure this build out first

BOA is totally new to me

    20250222_145700.jpg

Have to say, it allows a shit ton of flex meaning I'll be limited only by the length and mounting position of whatever shocks I use

3Flow9 front drag link and tie rod arrives this Monday, should help with covering all bases in making this rig as competitive as possible

So question for the experienced -

Dinky RC offers a tiny ESC as well as BKTT

Unfortunately both are out of stock of their programmers but being AM32, they can easily be programmed with any such programmer

Should I just skip Dinky and BKTT and assume they won't perform any differently than the $10 ESC found on Aliexpress?

I did actually order two Chinese ESC's for fun but if they're no different, I may run them in my comp rigs as they're really small.

Traxxas has become some what proprietary, not a personal fan of their stuff.
1/8 scale is huge, Axial is a great company. Maybe consider getting another 1/10 Axial. They make some cool buggies and UTB's. If you still have the SCX10, maybe give it a refresh with a tube frame buggy and use the old parts. I did that recently and it's a whole new vehicle now.

That’s a good idea but I told my father in law he could have it. Good to know about traxxas

As much as it's a PITA with Traxxas having their own stuff (battery connectors specifically), the quality of their products is usually very high and they're generally easy to work on. My TRX4M has been excellent as has my 1/16 E-Revo VXL. I do love Axial as well, but the build and component quality usually feels lower.

I also had a traxxas 4wd slash at one point. That thing was a beast

If you're looking for a new 1/10 check out Redcat. Lots of cool stuff coming from them lately.

Since I had another body, thinking I was gonna use the XL chassis, it's staying on the first build

Went metallic black all around, and solid black on the windows

    20250224_165131.jpg

I wanted a really subtle contrast so this should do it
