Everybody needs to go back a page or two and check out that thread I posted. That dude made a Wraith do things that a Wraith never even bought about doing.

^ nice deals, but is Venom aluminum any good? I always hear people compare them to Integy.

So, what's that gonna buy you? Bulkhead I mean. Are the factory ones weak?

supposedly its pretty good. i've seen people use their shocks mostly.

im not too woried about the bulk head though. its just a hunkin piece of aluminum haha. dont see any problems arising from using them. i ordered 2 bulk heads and 2 complete sets of tires. we'll see how they turn out.

yeah factory ones are plastic. a lot of people rip the arm mounts off the stock bulk heads. a lot harder to do that with aluminum. they also look a lot prettier :D haha

So, now the question is, does a set of A-arms and a set of hinge pins cost less than a bulkhead? And at what weight sacrifice? Some parts are designed to be the weak link.

well this bulk head cost 11 bucks.

a set of pro-line or rpm arms costs 10 bucks.

stock traxxas hinge pins are like 4 bucks for a set.

i have never broken an arm so i dont really worry about that happening. i dont do any extreme bashing so theres very little opportunity for me to do something that will cause that much damage.

Have you ever broken a bulkhead? That's kinda my point. Now you've chased your weakest link to the A-arms/pins. And if you break a arm now, your pin is now toast (because it can't give in the alloy bulkhead). I'm not trying to be an ass, there's just very few places aluminum is beneficial to an 10th scale model.

Does the bulkhead a least have "set" screws to keep the pin from rotating? If not, the alloy will wear way faster than plastic, and your front-end will have tons of slop before you realize it.

well i look at it this way. if i break an arm all i have to do is swap out the arm and pins.

if i break a bulk head i have to completely disassemble the entire front end of the truck.

so I upgrade that because it is a lot less of a hassle to just replace a single arm and hinge pin than tear apart the truck.

I have very few aluminum parts on my trucks.

i have an aluminum bulk head and aluminum caster blocks. i upgraded the c blocks because those are common breaks.

and with my current set up i have not broken any parts on my slash as far as suspension. so I believe teh upgrades i have made are very beneficial.

the pins rotate inside of the bulk head they are "set" in the arms them selves.

i've had my aluminum bulk head in my slash for 6 months and theres absolutely no slop in the bulk head.

X2!! That thing is a bitch to get to!

I have aluminum arms (bad I know) but I wonder what would happen if I got an aluminum bulk. My whole front end would pretty much be aluminum. Something would have to give somewhere, right?
