I prefer a hard case battery, especially with a lipo. (the square/rectangular solid case). The one you posted was just wrapped up in some plastic/rubber) It's just a matter of protection. I can't find a hard case on there that isn't sold out that would be better than what I posted. If you think you would prefer having the 5300mah without the hard case, plenty of people run batteries like that and don't really have problems. I run my truck hard, so I like the extra protection.

Most organized events will not allow batteries WITHOUT hard cases. True, lots of folks run them no problems. The funny thing is all li-pos for flight don't have hard cases. Now which would you guess had the greatest potential for a rupture, surface, or air?

I see your avi says "sack 0 tomatoes", that battery looks a whole lot like a mater nose from a heli? Looks like it's fine, any rupture?

Its not my battery. Its a funny pic/club that someone started on Helifreak. Generally any helicopter with front mounted packs will 'taco' when it goes in. Alot of helis these days are starting to do trays mounted inside the chassis for protection.

ok cool. i really appreciate the help. just trying to learn as much as i can so i can have the most fun with the truck. Dont want to destroy by making bad battery choices. That charger that you posted, do you just hook banana clips to the traxxas connector on the battery or do you have to get a special attachment for the chargers thats are out there?

I would say you could find a TRX (Traxxas' name for their connectors) attachment to plug into the charger. If not, one could be made by you or your LHS with ease. I would recommend having everything on the same connector. I'm gonna have to get an EC3 made up for that charger when it comes in.

So if i got this charger http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html

    and got this attachment http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-10030.html

that would work for the TRX connectors correct? Then i could either get batteries from traxxas or batteries from another brand and would just have to worry about soldering trx ends on the battery right?
