Good write up. When I first saw the slash I thought no way in hell, but after seeing all these videos it is making me think about it. How does it do in the semi rugged terrain?

I've driven it around my backyard and it is decent. If you are looking for something for crawling or for driving over large obstacles, a monster truck like the e-maxx would be good. However, for moderately smooth dirt and jumps, this thing is great. It is meant to be a short-course race truck, but it can be customized. Search for videos by JANG on youtube. He put monster truck wheels on his slash and goes through some pretty rough terrain.

ok here's some pics of my new emaxx brushless edition...i didn't like the blue body it came with (too dark) so i ordered a white body on ebay for $15....i also got duratrax 5000mah nimh batteries and a duratrax onyx 240 dual charger..but the truck did come with 2 traxxas 3000mah nimh batteries...i've only ran it once so far with the traxxas 3000mah batteries...this thing will fly!!!....and run time is really long...like 30mins or so....this is alot better than the old days...lol...i was into nitro for awhile but the last time i had electrics they would only last about 10-15min before the juice ran out....i can only imagine it will last even longer with the 5000mah batteries....i don't really see a need to go with lipos...i mean yeah with nimh you only go 35-40mph top speed but that is plenty fast enough!!!....any faster will make it very hard to control unless you are just going in a straight line and it's no fun to be doing a wheelie all the time and flipping over constantly....dual 3s lipo batteries top speed will be 50mph (stock gearing) plus the lipos cost alot more and they have so much power they can twist your cvds and mess up the gears in your tranny....that's what i've heard from watching youtube videos..lol..so i'm gonna stick with nimh batteries for now...here's a few pics

keep in mind the regular emaxx version can be made into a brushless edition very easily...they are basically the same truck...only differences are the motor, speed control, shock springs, wheel hexes and tires and wheels, and the radio...you will need the 2.4 ghz radio if you get the brushless motor...otherwise it will glitch if you use the 27mhz radio that comes with the regular emaxx...that's basically what the video i posted before this post is...a regular version made into a brushless version....the regular version goes 30mph stock so that's still not bad...costs around $375 where as the brushless version costs around $600....you could buy a regular version and slowly upgrade things if money is an issue

i got it all from towerhobbies...truck was around $600...charger around $100 and 2 extra batteries another $100 ($49.99 each)...so about $800 total....you could get the regular emaxx version with charger and extra batteries for around $600

i think the new 4x4 slash is $399 so they are all in the $400-$600 range for a good one

sweet kit man! makes me a bit depressed though...i bought a Nitro Revo 3.3 in Dec. and have yet to get a chance to play with it...waiting on decent weather for break-in. i sometimes wish i had gotten the Mamba electric model, but i won't have any regrets once the weather breaks. my 1/16 revo has been keeping me occupied for the time being.

That looks awesome. It makes me want to finish converting my t-maxx to an e-maxx with brushless.

all i can do for now is look at it :(

the 1/16 VXL revo is a blast. stupid-fast little cars right outta the box. there's been too much snow to even run it lately though.

Anyone going to Motorama in Pa next weekend?

I'm not real familiar with the differences. Can you give a particular reason why you have this opinion? Also, are you referring to the 2wd slash or the 4x4?

I see your in Canada, and the only downside to those would be you cant run them in bad weather or on a wet ground. I am not a pro by anymeans, just what I have learned. If I am wrong hopefully someone corrects me

I dont know from ecperience, I have just heard you dont want a nitro to even look at water. But ya, those things look fun for the summer. HAve you checked them all out? You can get some bad ass toys for cheaper.

Most fuel powered R/C's run on nitro, however the larger vehicles such as this 1/5 scale buggy run on gas. They are still pretty similar as they both have to be tuned (air/fuel ratio) to run in top performance.
