So I'm about to waterproof my SCX and was wondering if any of you guys with the Blitz have done anything above and beyond what HPI did from factory?

Tear apart the axles/transmissions and pump some marine grease in there? The bearings are really the only things I'm worried about with it.

hey everyone, I pulled the trigger yesterday and Joined the R/C world! I bought a Traxxas Slash 4x4. First R/C ever... had a great day driving and crashing it! Since I am going to bash it and jump it: Do you guys have any opinions on good/necessary upgrades for the Slash? (I bought a fast charger and an extra battery already) any help is appreciated.

The upgrade to LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries is something you'll never regret.

In my 2wd Short Course truck I'm getting at least 25 minutes running it pretty hard. That's also with a cooling fan on my ESC.

9 times out of 10 LiPo batteries will outperform NiMH and NiCd batteries. They're lighter and give you better power. They'll really bring any R/C to life (as long as they can handle it).

LiPo batts that you would be looking for would be 2S (7.4v) and 3S 9 (11.1v) Not sure if your slash would handle a 3S.

To make it simple, the more MAH you have the more runtime you will get out of the battery.

LiPo batteries also have a "C" rating which is how much "punch" you get, mainly when you "punch" the throttle. The higher the rating, (providing the manufacturer of the battery is being honest) the more "punch" you get.

    The battery I posted a link to is one that I own. It's a 2S 30C 4000mah.

BLUVVV: That 60+ mph rating on your box? The way you get that is with a 3S LiPo. So, yes it would handle one. (Just watch your temps)

A non-contact infrared thermometer. I got mine from harbor freight, 15 bucks and it works great.

(Mine isn't this exact one, but similar in price)
