ok, well the charging went alright.

the running was ok for about 3 min.

all of a sudden as i am walking up to it (thankfully i was close!)
fire spewed out of the ESC....i yanked the battery unplugged and the fire stopped.
    WTF!!!!!!???!??!?

i got the esc and motor used but it would not have caught on fire before.

when setting it up i noticed i was not getting much braking power from it.
no frikin' clue at this point because i am so new to all the latest tech.

Holy shit, man... I've heard that Novak's like to catch on fire...

Also, rebuilding my diff and plan on packing it with Kendall SuperBlue high temp grease. Only because that was the only thing that was laying around. Should be fine?

Your luck sounds like mine. So, the ESC was used? Novak has, in the past been very easy to work with. But I know that's not what you want to here at this point. Sorry dude...

Gotta take it apart to asses damage. Out with the family for now, but I can't stop micro analyzing it. At a glance it did not seem to be any damage.

I think it spewed out the side of the car. So vital organs were ovoided.
Did not even see any melted plastic.

Hey All, I just picked up a new 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport. Am I into R/C, you could say so? I liked it so much that I opened my own Hobby shop about 7 years ago. My family and I still race at our local track. I also fly R/C helicopter, now that's something that will definitely keep your heart pumping fast.

was extremely lucky this thing did not damage the car at all, not even a spot that looks like it got hot.
spewed right in between 2 of the cage supports to the outside.

if it had gone to the inside....game over for the Exo
