Anyone into R/C?

What motors are you both running?

 

Apparently HobbyPartz is going to my local track on Friday. lets see whats going on

 

Both are stock trucks with the vxl setup, only things we have done is add rpm bumpers.

 

is the stampede 4wd and is the slash 2wd?

 

both are 4wd

 

a gear change will help. im pretty sure the stampede is lighter than the slash 4wd. they are essentially the same thing but the stampede is more scaled down. what gearing are you running now?

 

Im running stock gearing, I believe its 13/54, it came with a 18t pinion I can try out.

 

Is the Sampede more of a stadium truck vs. the Slash more of a short course truck? Sorry, I don't/can't keep up with Traxxas' models.

 

yeah i usually run 18/56 so the 18/54 should give it a higher top speed.

 

the stampede is more of a monster truck type thing.

 

Ill switch it out tomorrow and test it, if all else fails ill switch to a mmp sct 2400kv combo and a 3s running a 19/54 gearing. That should be more then enough to keep up.

Yeah, but in doing that setup ill have to spend alot of $$, ill need to upgrade alot to be able to handle the power and not break crap, haha.

 

Now I understand. I would be embarrassed also if that thing out anythinged me. Well, maybe car crushing. The trannys have to be geared WAY different.

I just looked his up, hes running a 11/54 to my 13/54, not too big of a difference.

 

Not pinion/spur ratio. The ratio of the transmission.

 

The tire size is also something to factor in with this Slash/Stampede discussion here. I think obviously the stampede is getting more traction and will have more top end due to the taller tires.

If you want to make that slash scream get a Tekin SC411 motor and a mamba max ESC or equivalent.
