question for you ladies and bruces...

i want to get an RC car that is electric, not gas. this would just be a fun toy, not competitive racer. I want it to have decent speed, but also be able to drive from tar road, to gravel, to a mowed lawn.

I don't know what specs I should be looking for, and also what brands...

OR can I buy all the parts, and put a car/truck/buggy together? that would be fun too...

I don't want to spend a ton of money, but what are some suggestions?

    Cheers

Any pictures on here peak your interest?
What style you looking for truck, buggy, monster truck ect.

You can pick up a Decent trophy truck or buggy starting around 200 in the kit form. RTR(ready to run) will cost you a little more.

Scale trucks will run a little more.

What are you willing to spend up front is the question.
I got a couple grand sitting in my room right now. ;)

I think 200 would be the very top end of what I want to pay... probably looking more towards 100.
I think a kit would be fun to put together.... probably a buggy or truck. I would want it to have the clearance to go onto short grass.

What do I need to know about speed/ power output/ etc if I am going to buy a kit?
Also I know there are some cheap RC that you don't have level control of your acceleration, just off and on, no slow intermediate controls... this also goes with steering control, hard right/left or straight.... i would like to have some middle ground to play with.

100-200 isnt much to play with unless you buy used. there are kits for around 200 but they dont include any electronics.

you're definitely going to have o go with a lesser known brand with that budget if you buy new.

looking on some rc forums for used deals would be your best bet.

I guess I was a little off. The electronics will add to the price if your building a kit, prob another 100 or so.

Let someone chime in that has more experience as I am still a noob.

I started with a Rtr wraith which was 350 which is AWSOME.

It is an addiction, It a money pit just like your truck. ;)

Best bet for you is to try and find used on eBay or Craigslist.

I actually have another suggestion.... dont know how i forgot about these

Himoto has a great 4x4 monster truck for 200 bucks this comes with a 2.4ghz radio system and its brushless.

a brushed version of it is 50 dollars less at 149

I have personally dealt with both ck hobby and himoto products and I highly recommend both.

CK Hobby has the best customer service in the rc hobby I have ever dealt with.

My little bro got a 1/10 scale Losi Desert Truck for $150. It would be a great deal if you could find one. I believe they're not being produced any longer (but it's essentially a Losi XXX-T which means parts are very easy to find)

Thats a fun race to watch
    That sucks
I'd suggest the Traxxas Stampede, HPI Blitz, Team Associated SC10, Traxxas Bandit, Losi XXX-SCB

    Click the link, brah..

It runs roughly 20 maybe? It's not super fast or anything. I bought a Team Associated SC10 RTR with the brushed motor and the SC10 was a good bit quicker out of the box. With the Losi, though you could always start out box stock and add a faster brushless motor later on. I've got a video of it somewhere.... (gimme a minute)
