just got a new servo, found it on ebay brand new, turns out the guy lives about 20 mins from home, just picked it up! metal gears .12s 136oz-in, should be more than enough for the t4.1, stock servo sucks. :yay:

Question, can the ESC BEC be physically bypassed, I don't see an option of turning it off on the manual, I ask because from what I've read some Servos like a little more juice than the ESC can offer, some apparently solve it using a capacitor on the receiver or by getting an external BEC to get power directly from the battery. I have not used the servo yet, but would like to know just in case I experience this.

edit: never mind just found how to do it.

    Too many to list
Got my new combo put in today, decided to run it on 2s just to make sure everything works, dropped to a 50t spur and a 19t pinion and this thing hauls ass just on 2s. not even 15min of run time I bent a shock shaft, was able to bend it back and I stuck a 3s in to see the difference and holy shit!! This gearing/combo on 3s is crazy, I really cant imagine throwing a 4s in, going to pick up a few more 3s lipos .

New layout pics, going to clean the wires up a bit, just through it all on so I could run it.

Yeah, but the titanium nitride coating is only for lubricancy, not strength. It's only a very thin coating (couple of thousandths of an inch).

theres always been a big debate about whether they are actually stronger or not. People say they are treated differently so the tini shafts ARE stronger. and on the other hand people say theres no difference at all.

From my personal experience, I have never bent a shaft coated with the tini. but i have bent stock slash shock shafts just like in the picture.

Not trying to be a smart-ass, but, there is no debate. The only reason a ti-ni shaft would be stronger, is "if" there was better metal used in the production of the shaft itself, again it's only a coating.

Now, if your saying only the better made shafts (better quality materials) get coated, then, by default, you would be correct.

This is the first paragraph from Wiki.

Titanium nitride (TiN) (sometimes known as “Tinite” or “TiNite” or “TiN”) is an extremely hard ceramic material, often used as a coating on titanium alloys, steel, carbide, and aluminium components to improve the substrate's surface properties.
Applied as a thin coating, TiN is used to harden and protect cutting and sliding surfaces, for decorative purposes (due to its gold appearance), and as a non-toxic exterior for medical implants. In most applications a coating of less than 5 micrometres (0.00020*in) is applied.

yeah my shocks (pro-line) came with tini coated shafts. im sure pro-lines shafts are a better material than the traxxas ones.
