    how many of you guys are old enough to remember these?
    or the ones before them (i can't find a pic of the original friction speed controller)
    the one below was high tech back then.

    the ones before these were servo based, like above, but had a coil of wires and an arm that slid across it to alter voltage.

    when you batteries would run out or you got out of range the steering would go straight and it would stick in whatever forward speed you were going.......bye bye car.

    That was mine also, from 1985 or so. After I finally got it the way I wanted the only thing factory was the transmission halves. Hot Trick chassis and trailing arm rear suspension, Option House Gold shocks and towers, ball diff and universal drives. Thorp Dirt Burner gear set, Andys front a-arms and MIP ball bearing steering rack. Still have some crap for it. I ended up with three or four of them. Been a Associated guy ever since.

    I think MaxAmps is good stuff but somewhat overpriced.
    Another good news site is www.redrc.com
    For some really nice RC photography www.oople.com is great, mostly race coverage from overseas but still worth a look.
    www.rctech.net is good for tech and classifieds.
