Okay... Got my little batteries charged up, then attempted to lift-off in the living room. I quickly learned that I needed a lot more room than this would provide..... Went out to the backyard and started getting real lift-off. Moved the throttle up nice and slow and as it started started drifting and sliding around I did my best (for a whole battery pack) to try to get it trimmed out right while it was sliding around on the ground.

As my confidence built I decided to get some altitude out of this little heli. I made several spectular crash landings from roughly 6ft in the air while I was trying to get used to the controls. I decided the wind was really pushing it around too much.

I moved to our 2 car garage, roughly 25'x20'.. Backed the taco out and put a small table in the middle of it. I had a few successful attempts at hovering along with taking off from the table, buzzing around a little bit and then bouncing back down onto the table.

Then I took it back outside after the wind died down and started doing some big circles, spins, forward and back, etc... I started to get brave and somehow lost my rear rotor guard..... then broke my rear rotor..... :frusty: new one on the way...

The biggest challenge right now is keeping it in a stable hover, along with my 2 thumbs keeping track of all 4 channels. I really need to get a simulator.

Buy at least a set or two of skids, main rotor blades, fly bar, and tail rotor. You'll never know when you my need any of these parts. Keep in mind you'll need to get up three or four feet off the ground to get out of your on turbulence. On take off, it seems to me instead of slowly bringing up throttle, just get the head spinning and smoothed out, then just kinda "hop" it up into the air while giving a little right aileron. Don't trouble your self with trying to trim while "skating" around, wait until you can get it up in a hover of sorts. Keep at it, one day, boom, it'll just all come together for you. A sim is not a bad idea, especially if a CP bird is in your future.

^^^I see what you're saying with takeoff, there. I figured that out after I had dicked around with it for a while. Seems to work a lot better with this smaller heli. I ordered main and rear blades, along with a rotor guard and another couple batteries. I probably should have ordered a few more rear rotors... oh well..

I probably missed something somewhere but did you really see that big of a difference in the ~22g difference between the 4000 and 5000?

I have four 5000mah Gens Ace LiPos and I love them - don't know that I'll ever own another battery. Although one of them seems to have started to bulge a little on the top and bottom...will be keeping an eye on that.

My truck, (Which runs hot due to being overweight and overgeared) seems to "feel" and handle better running the lighter 4000mah packs. Runtime isn't marginally different, but the higher capacity and C of the 5000mah 50C and 5800mah 40C clearly has more punch. I just like the way it drives with the lighter packs.

Which truck are you running it in?

I've thought about going lighter in my Honcho just to help with the center of gravity.

my stadium truck runs great lighter and with the smaller lipo pack... i only run 25C packs... i also noticed that the difference between my 4000 pack and my 5000 pack is about 5 to 7 mins run time...

i was even running the 2s lipo on a brushed motor and it was popping wheelies all day long...

Just backordered a waterproofed BR-XL from A Main - didn't even realize they had them on there. Got to use my gift card from my future in-laws on it.

    Stoked!
