Sweet - I'll be on the lookout for it.

I am in the market for a Wraith, but I've been holding off as I want to get my SCX where I want it first.

I'm not "up" on all the crawler stuff by any means, but I'd wager you couldn't tell the differences between the two, provided, they are the same winds. Back when I ran brushed stuff, I'd rather have two machine wound vs. one hand wound.

That's a good point. The price difference off-the-shelf (with no other customization) is around $30. So I couldn't quite get two machine-wound for one hand-wound, but it's pretty close.

    Thanks for the input!

What crawler are those going on??

Figure with a little trimming I can clear them on the scx10 :D

Not sure on exact size but there 7.5" tall and 3" wide tires. There not for the scx10, they came with a 1/8 crawler I just got.

Holy shit. You'll have to trim big time!

Can't wait to see them on though!

I guess I missed it, but what crawler did you get?

I just got a cheap exceed max stone crawler, since the motors are mounted on the axels its easy to expand the chassis. To turn it into a 1/5th scale all you need is, extra chassis plates, 2 adj. links, 3 chassis posts and a 1/5 body. I have it all but the chassis posts and the body, I plan to also buy a servo plate and servo and turn it into a 4wheel steer since its already ready for it.

    heres some pics..

I dont really know the difference excepted for the fact that Holmes himself wound both my motors.

I would buy hand made over machine made any day if I could.

    Oh.....
Holmes also told me hand wound motors tend to last a lot longer if your break them in the right way.

Windings, be it machine or and wound, have nothing what so ever to do with how long a brushed motor "last". The only part that wears out is the comutator (well brushes also, of course) the copper portion where the brushes transfer the batteries' energy to the armature. One "should" always break in the brushes, not he motor par say, for best results. BTW, any of you fellows that run brushed motors need a comutator lathe? A couple of light passes, new set of properly broken in brushes, spot of lube on bushings/bearings and it (motor) will run just like brand new.

Taco, looks like your spanking those SC trucks already with no wheel time on your new stadium rig, good job. Also, even on the video I barely can hear your model landing off jumps, while those SC trucks are banging and slamming around. Is there a bigger track somewhere, that way you'll really see the difference.

Thanks man! There is a bigger track and I'll be racing there this Sunday. I'll make sure I post some vids. I think I wanta 13.5t motor though. I definitely love the way this thing drives. :)

I had heard it wasn't necessary to break them in. Not sure about a Holmes motor, though.

Sounds like a machine-wound is going to be just fine for me.

    Thanks for the input guys!
