Anyone into R/C?

Going to Hot Rod Hobbies to race today. The Reedy Truck Race of Champions was just held there so the layout is SICK. I'm pretty excited . Will try to get some video!

have 3 races with the new radio and I LOVE IT. Feels super comfortable in my hands, very balanced and you can also change the position of the drop down wheel or even remove the drop down. Im super happy I went with this radio!

 

Got me replacement hull today

 

just got this from my grandparents who got it from a apartment eviction, all i know about it is its nitro, 4wd, and its a xtm buggy.
it needs some work such as: new tires on the font (the last owner had the camber? set wrong and wore the tires on the inside), new screws (where would i get these, lowes or HD?), new air filter, and a new controller and quartz.
any tips?

 

Looks like that camber issue is only on the right tire. Doughnuts all day maybe? If its an XTM then if you have a local HobbyPeople they have all the parts you need. There should be a manual online somewhere if you must use HD/Lowes for screws. HobbyPartz will get you a new controller and RX for $40. If that motor sat too long it might be seized. Look into a good hair dryer/hear gun when you try and fire that back up. Be prepared to buy another piston/sleeve.

 

ok, thanks. i pulled the pull start on it to make sure it wasn't seized and it cycled good, tomorrow ill put a little fuel in it and see if it will start.
i also got the controller solved, i have a t-maxx that i could never get to stop having problems so i just pulled the quartz out of it and now i can use that controller.

the only thing it doesn't have that i really want is the roll bar, i think this model is the rail. pic is with the rail.

I swear that Team C buggy is a Losi 22 with a different pan. The other parts are identical!

i'll give you one thing though, I am running a losi 22 buggy wing. thats as far as it goes though lol

 

It appears you have some overstressed inner camber ball caps, and that front brace looks a tad tweaked as well.

 

they're not over stressed, they're angled to clear the big bore shocks lol. dont even need those though but im running them till they break. that front brace does look a bit off though. hasnt affected performance so im not worried about it.

dirty factory, but yes. I also drilled a hole through the ball cup so i dont have to pop it off every time i want to move the ball stud. let me try to find a picture of it where u can see the angle.

Got ya, from that first shot (along with the tweaked brace) they "appeared" to be stretched almost to the point if failure. Good trick on drilling the cups, my Durangos have that feature from the factory, but always seem to fill with crap.

 

eah i know the pictures made it look weird haha. yeah one of my buddies told me to do it and it makes sense haha. havent had them fill p yet since i run mostly clay. but i'll keep an eye on em!

 

so i didn't fix the controller issue, so i'm gonna get a new transmitter and receiver so a couple questions:

(1) the current set up is 75 mhz, should i go to 2.4 ghz?

(2) the car right now is 2 channel, could i run a 3 channel transmitter and receiver?

 

Yes go 2.4 ghz and yes you can run a 3 channel transmitter/receiver and leave the 3rd channel open.
