went racing friday, I feel like I'm hitting a wall.. i'm starting to think the gear diff is not the winning choice :(

SC10RS converted to FT. It's mostly dialed, the problem I'm having is that it wants to over rotate when the track dries from wet to where the lugs of the tires get a little clogged to no clogging. It is also very squirrely on the straights no matter what I do. running raptors in soft compound, thinking double dees in super soft may be what i should buy

If its converted to FT, it should have a ball diff, no? IMO, a ball diff in 2wd is far superior to a gear one. That being said, there are still some things to consider, rear toe/anti-squat angle even your front end settings play a factor in how it rotates through corners. Have you played with your link position/length? Changing track conditions are difficult to tune for in themselves, I just try to shoot for something in the middle.

It should have the ball diff to be completely FT but it's one of those things, some people put the gear diff in others run ball diff.. honestly I'm about to just put the ball diff in since its what I know for 10th scale.

my setup:-1 camber all around, 3 deg toe, 2 anti squat, front arms are level with each other, rears are a little bit below level, blue springs up front green rears, 30 wt oil all around (may have to go to 25 soon since winter is approaching) 7k wt in the diff. Track is clay, hard packed with loom on the edges from brushing, there is a definite fast groove to it. When it's wet, its super bitey and I don't have this issue, its when it drys out a little bit, lets say they water it before the first race of the heat, and its like the 3rd or 4th race of the heat, its still wet in spots but drying out in others. It's also bumpy as shit from lack of maintenance other than sweeping. Normally when I start a pack, I have to drive it on pins and needles but as the pack wears to about half, it starts to fade out and stop over rotating so throttle control is an issue i need to work on, maybe remove some drag brake if I have any in my firmware to keep it from applying.. pretty sure its 10 or 15% maybe i'll drop it to 5

Part of the problem is when I'm getting back on the throttle, when I have to throttle up to maintain speed, it just breaks loose. I'm going to purchase some double dees in super soft compound tomorrow as this track seems to not wear tires.. hopefully that'll get me down to where I need to be lap wise. I'm about .5 seconds slower per lap then the really fast guy so I'm getting there, the problem is the past couple times I've been out it remains the same.

What are the "fast guys" running, tyre and diff wise? Double Dee's are some of my favs. I still say the ball diff will be your best bet.

Fast guys are running gold compound raptors (which aren't available it seems) and super soft double dees. The ones that use ball diffs have them tight and the fast guy running the gear diff is running 7k wt.
