Ever notice, that nitro guys are like Harley guys? They feel the need to constantly feather/rev the throttle. I guess both are afraid there mills will flame out?

I can only speak for myself but these the reasons I feather the throttle constantly. This isn't on a track so there is a risk of keeping high revs too long and leaning out causing heat and or over revving the engine. I've actually blown an engine from over revs at the track so I'm always aware of it. Also, My car is from like 2003 so we didnt have 1 way bearings up front meaning when I'm off the gas, I lose the bite in the front tires. I should have track video up in the next couple weeks hopefully but If I don't, there will be feathering at the track for the same reason of making the front tires bite. I don't actually like nitro sound in the low revs so I gain nothing by keeping it low lol My car will actually sit there and idle until it runs out of gas. I used the start box 1 time in the 30 mins I was driving, I was able to re tune it for good fuel, weather, and adjust the trim to make it actually idle all without a flame out. Now with bad gas, feathering is absolutely necessary to keep it from flaming out haha but my car has always idled like a champ.. I've wont races simply because it didnt die.

I just noticed today at the local track the gassers were working the shit out of there throttles, the voltage guys were just smooth (and faster) plus they made the E guys do a mock pit. WTF is that, if you don't like being outpaced by an electric, buy one, don't drag down the class.

ALL nitro guys feather the throttle because thats the way nitro is driven.. nitro isnt instant power like electric, gotta build up the revs and feel the power build up. Im an electric guy myself but I can still appreciate nitro. AND most guys around here run both. Two completely different animals.

I'm not sure since I've only driven 1 4x4 electric car and it was of the same vintage, no 1 way bearing so I had to pulse the throttle on that too. I know that on mine I'm never half throttle where as electrics definitely have a half throttle lol.

to be fair to the mock pit thing, when we ran 7 min mains at club races we'd have a mandatory pit because some guys would need to pit at 5 and some could run the whole race. I think the only time a nitro buggy will be better is when you're running a really long race, like a 45 minute main which is common with the really bit nitro races. Electric wont cut it with that but I'm a guy who thinks faster is better so I wouldn't pass up an ebuggy lol

I fully understand keeping the clutch "made" up, but if they can't hang, fuck'em. I'm sure Dangle will chime in at any moment...

Lol the thing is though, the complaint of acting like a harley owner to keep the clutch activated creates the situation where you're damned if you do damned if you dont lol Half throttle doesnt really exist in nitro though

if theres a normal main say 5/6/7 minutes then they wont have to pit and im sure they can hang. make it a 15/20 minute main and the electric guys will have to pit once to swap out a battery. The two classes arent meant to be raced against eachother so making the field equal shouldnt come as such a surprise to people.

No complaint, my thoughts of both are "I hope my shit don't flame out, then I'll look like a dumb-ass". And let's face/admit it if riding a Barely, that ship has sailed... And the 12 minute main (what this track runs) is very easy to do, even after the warm-up, (nitro guys even are allowed to top off before) voltage guys have zero worries.

A 12 min main Is pretty awkward because I'm pretty sure my car dies at 7 lol is have to push it pretty hard for like 6.5 mins and if I was in a battle there would be a risk of going empty.

I never understood warmup for electric, for nitro you're literally warming up the engine but electric you're just burning battery lol when we do warmup at my track I always do like 2 laps and sit and wait for everyone else
