    As the others have said, I would start cheap and work your way up. Trust me, once you get your first R/C, you are going to want more of them anyway.

    I always recommend that the first truck you get be a kit. You will instantly learn everything about that truck from the ground up. If you start with an RTR, you will have a blast until something breaks and then have no clue how to fix it. Not necessarily the best way to start off in my opinion.

    If it were me, I'd look at either the AE RC10T4 Kit or the SC10 (not sure if they have a kit or not). Great cars, tons of accessories for them, reliable/durable, been around for over a decade.

    If you get a kit, I would wait on buying a charger or batteries - get the thing built first and get comfortable with the inner-workings of it before you plug it in and go.

    This is exactly how I got my foot in the door about 11 years ago and I've been hooked ever since.

    I have my brand new SCX10 sitting at home still in the box - it is taking every ounce of self-control I have not to leave work at lunch and crack it open...

    FT kits? Factory Team?

    Do they not make any regular kits? My RC10T3 was a kit and it wasn't anything special - I beat the hell out of it for 5 years or so with no issues.

    Does anyone know what limitations are as far as running a hotter battery than a 7.2v? An 8.4 or 11.1 for example? will my esc explode?
