Anyone into R/C?

How did u do that? is that a kit or custom?

 

Will do, never have ordered from them usually im a amain or tower guy, for crawlers i usually use rpp or ckrc, we'll see how long shipping is since i ordered today, should ship tomorrow.

Its super easy to do, just a unscrew and switch kinda thing between the front and back, with my ridgecrest i needed a servo ext. cost about $3.

 

What kind of battery do you run in your Axial? I want to get as much info as I can before I get one.

 

I usually run a gen ace 2s lipo, 5000mah, 40c. there failry cheap and iv had good luck with them.

 

Cool thanks. So the only thing I would have to do is cut off the battery connector and run a deans connector for lipos, correct?

 

You can run whatever connector you want to, alot of people do run deans as do I. Gen ace lipos come with 4mm bullet style connectors, so you will need to change those to whatever you want, when you only have one car its not too bad, but when you get multiple cars, its good to get one style and stay with it so all your batterys are interchangeable.

 

Speaking of lipos, how volatile are they really? There are a ton of warnings that come with lipo batteries about the possibility of fire and explosion, and I have to admit, it makes me a bit nervous.

I'm charging mine with the correct settings on the charger and my esc has low voltage detection. What else do I need to do to ensure I don't burn something down using these? Is a charging bag a good thing to have? Any tips for short/long term storage?

 

Lipos can be very dangerous if not used/stored the right way. It is good to charge them in a fire safe bag, never leave it on the charger unattended, if you see any signs of puffing to the battery, do not charge it or use it, disguard of it.

If you dont use them for awhile its good to put them in storage mode to ensure the cells stay strong and you dont damage the battery. I personality store mine on a shielf on my desk, I dont see the need to storing them in a fire safe bag, but charging them i do use 2 fire safe bags, its cheap insurance. Im no expert by any means but all lipo fires iv seen have been either in use or on a charger, chargers and esc's do malfunction.

How do you put them into storage mode? I've never heard of that before.

 

Your charger should have a option for "lipo storage". This will put it somewhere at 50-60% of the pack’s rated capacity or 3.78V~3.92v a per cell.

Been a little while but i have couple updates. I started racing at LSR Speedway in Sacramento and the 30th I won sportsman short course and promptly removed all the electronics from it and put them in my team c tc02 Evo and went to Vegas which took a week and was able to race yesterday and got 2nd place in sportsman buggy. I have no desire to race short course anymore lol

 

Dude you got to tell me when you go to LSR!!!

 

Next Sunday I'll be there, no sure if I'm going to practice this week though

got a new lipo from hobbyking for my 8th scale that i'll be picking up tonight and the garodisc from rcshox for my 2wd buggy!

 

Do you like running those 2s2p batterys? Iv got 2 and I dont think ill go back to 2s2p, ill stay with the 2s1p batterys, always seem to have issues with broken battery connections.
