wow, my first and last flotek then. i didn't expect mine to last a year, but a week is pitiful.

got parts in from a friend (banned member "johnw") for 4-wheel steer. soldered and tuned everything last night and tested it out by the river today. huge improvement. also got some bigger, stickier tires from him. good thing for waterproof servos. dunked the motors a couple of times, but they seem to be doing well still.

Does anyone know anything about the tmaxx transmissions? My roommates is giving him problems. We took it apart, and everything seems to be in working order and good condition. But, if you roll the truck, the spur gear doesn't spin. Also, if you spin the spur gear/input shaft the output shafts don't spin.

Maybe the shifting mechanism thingy inside is bad?

He's saying when he gives it throttle it kind of lurches forward intermittently and won't let the engine rev like it should.

If you've been out for a couple of years, your gonna trip at all the new stuff that's available now. The RC hobby has gone through the roof.

IMO EP is the way to go. Li-PO batteries and brushless motors, are very powerful, efficient, quite and relatively inexpensive.

I just can't seem to get over the whole foam thing. Been used to balsa and fiberglass. EP is just kind of weird to me. Cost is not really an issue. I've got a few 6 channel receivers and transmitters and a bunch of servos but I'm wondering how out of date they are and if they are compatible with the newer systems. Don't have them in front of me but the are Futaba's. Anything specific you'd recommend?

Foamies fly good, and can be repaired with five minute epoxy and be back in the air. Balsa is of course nice. Most, not all, newer TXs are using newer 2.4ghz. It's cleaner with virtually no 'hits" and not need to worry about what everyone else is running at the flying field. Futaba is very nice stuff, a bit spendy, but good. Spectrum can be had for a fraction of the cost and works just as well IMO. You said money wasn't an issue, look at some JR stuff....

I don't mean to sound cocky with the whole money is no issue thing, but I would like to find a complete set up for up to or less than a grand. I realize that rules out a fair amount of ARF's, as I don't really have time for a kit, but a complete 2.4 rig would be nice. Upon your suggestion about EP's, I might consider something like the Calypso to get back into the hobby cheap and quick.

That's basically what I started with (Multiplex EasyStar) fun for what it is, twenty minute plus flight times (depending on your batteries mah). However, if you flown before, your gonna get bored with it fairly quickly, loops is about the extent of maneuvers. If you've flown four channel before, I'd suggest the Parkzone Corsair. Every single person I ask at my local flying field suggested this as my second plane. It's still my favorite, great looks and performance out of the box. My buddy dropped in a hotter kv motor, it'll climb vertical almost out of site. Let me see if I can find a link.
