what are you greasing and why? are you greasing for friction related reasons, or for the purpose of waterproofing something? i shoved some mobil 1 synthetic grease in the diffs of my crawler, but that's the only time i've used grease. actually been meaning to crack open the diffs on my summit and do the same now that you've reminded me...

i don't know if i'd read too deep into it. any halfway decent grease will help. it'd be a little different if you were constantly submerged in water, or running really high speeds, where you'd slig grease right out. have you looked into sealed bearings (if your truck doesn't already have them)?

I kept having my brushed motors fail on me (prior to Holmes') and it always ended up being the bearings. I finally bought about $50 worth of Fast Eddy's bearings and replaced them every third run, or after a real raunchy one, and my motors were lasting longer than my LiPos (with regular cleanings).

    Just my $.02 on that.

As for forums, I highly suggest RCC (www.rccrawler.com). Great group of people on there and nearly every well known vendor has a rep on there to answer questions and help you with their product.

Me thinks I have not seen this crawler...me thinks you should give a link for people like me who always forget all the random crap they see on TW.

    Love that Wraith, dude!

Have you had decent luck with your Flat Irons? I ran them for awhile and they were shit for me. I hit mostly swampy trails here in FL and they just caked and then slid.

My 2.2 Pit Bulls were absolutely AMAZING for me. Hands down the best trail tire I've ever run. Were they scale? Hell no, but I didn't care while I was doing the hill climb that everybody got stuck on. :D

I put a 35T Pro in my SCX10 and ran that bitch hard. There are some videos from a dude I ran with on YouTube that I'll have to find.

[SPACE RESERVED FOR SAID VIDEO, IF I REMEMBER]

I put a 27T TrailMaster in my Wraith and to my knowledge, that thing is still going strong after several TTCs.

I know you weren't talking to me, but I used the Lucas Oil Marine Grease that you can get at Lowe's in the value pack with a gun.

My SCX10 was part submarine and I never had a speck of rust on the gears or anywhere else I had the grease in the year and a half I had it.

Just be sure not to pack too much grease in the diffs. A light coating on the metal is all you need.

x2 on sealed bearings if you run it in water a lot, especially dirty water.

it started out as an exceed 1/10 crawler. added some axial parts, played witht he suspension mounting loacations, drilled some holes here and there, broke some shit, fixed some shit, added 4 wheel steer, some bigger tires, and twice the batteries. and now (except for the seized motors), i couldn't e happier with it.

relatively stock in this picture except for the upper mounting points for the shocks. got it sitting lower, with more flex than stock.

this was right before the rear steer and larger tires.
you can see the double stacked batteries in this shot (one red, one black). run in paralelle for run time, not voltage.
got lucky and didn't have to relocate too many electronic components.

and these are post 4-wheel-steer and the big tires. essentialyl how it sits today, minus the bad motors.

with proper driving, it crawls over everything pictured, no problem.

    even through the water :D

Sick. Nice work man. How are those tires doing for you? I take it pretty well, given the pics? :D

Good to hear. I was never a fan of them, aside from scale looks.

Bill, the owner and fabricator for BGR is a great dude that makes a great product. He's a member on RCC, too.

very grippy. i'd buy them again. on steep enough inclines, if you punch the throttle, it'll launch the truck into a backflip before the tire spins just a little.

also running soft memory foam inserts, so they deform beautifully, while still supporting the truck (it's heavy with two motors and two batteries). also don't have to worry about flat spotting the tires if it sits for a little with the tires on the ground (or kitchen table :anonymous:)

Dual-stage memory foam inserts are the way to go. Ran them in my 2.2 Pit Bulls and the difference was incredibly noticeable.

All this crawler talk is making me want to go out and buy a new one and start building again. Ugh.

with the stock tires, i jsut pulled the foams, and have done the same to the swampers i have on my 1/24 scaler. works great, but the memory foam is unbeatable.

and you should definitely cave and get another crawler :D

seem to be all over ebay.

i'm more of an Amazon and local hobby shops kinda guy myself, but ebay is typically your best bet for anything rc, that you can't find elsewhere.
