:woot: got my crawler up and running again. sitting in a storage unit in florida for 6 months took a toll on it. rusted out the springs, seized up the motors, dry rotted the crappy plastic gears in one of the steering servos, and toasted the receiver.

had extra springs, and some motors laying around, so that was easy. then stopped off at the store today and got a new all metal gear, high torque servo. also picked up a spectrum DX3C, 3 chanel transmitter/reciever combo. old setup was 2 channel. so now with the 3, i can control the fron and rear steer independantly. just have to do a little limit tuning and go for a test crawl tomorrow :)

Do you want more wheel speed, or more torque? Wheel speed go brushless or lipos(2s,3s might be too much) torque go with anything over 35t (motor)

Im running 35t motor, 87/18 gearing and it does really good. It will pull the front wheels of my Wraith off the ground. Its has plenty of torque and just enough speed to get the tires going in the mud or pop up over a obstacle. The 56/12 setup Hunter is running is like 4:70 gear ratio and my 87/18 setup is is like 4:83 ratio. They are both great with a slow turn motor. If you go brushless it needs to be sensored no matter what. I also added 2oz of weight to each front wheel and 1oz to each rear wheel.

I've ran 45 and 55 turn motors on previous crawlers, sllooww but if it got traction it could go up a / angle. You dont get much wheel speed more of a slow motion spin lol. Hopefully I hear back from the person I bought mine from (sent payment but got no tracking info :( hope I didn't get scammed). I can't wait to mod it (if I get it)

water and mud to start, rock crawling starts at 2:25, and then a couple of jumps (and a crash that snapped a body mount) from 4:40 to the end. couldn't be happier with the brushless system. still crawls great. haven't GPSd it yet, but relative to my short course truck, i'd guestimate somewhere in the 30 mph range, with acceleration being it's strong point.

When my low voltage cut off hits my servo still works but no motor power and it will start lunging right before it cuts off. IDK though my system is pretty low tech but first one i have had that was LiPo compatible.

Noob question... what motor would you suggest that would give you better speed than stock honcho and more crawling capablility?

So can you Rcers tell me is there much of a market for used RC stuff? Thinking about selling all my RC nitro stuff.

    Thanks.
