    Well damn.....

Went in to the shop for some diff fluid.....left with a new buggy

After thoroughly enjoying the 2wd E-Jato, I have been looking at 2wd race buggies. stumbled upon an Associated RC10 B4.2. The owner of the shop let me have it for $200 +tax

aw man, no faith  i know how to build from a kit :p

I was actually looking at their "worlds" kit or whatever it's called, but the owner wasn't going to give me 25% off of that one. probably a good thing though since recently i've barely had time to rebuild the diff in the truggy :(

but i figure whenever i get spares or have to replace broken parts, i'll just get the top of the line upgrade part. already ordered spare arms, hub carriers, and camber links. i found it interesting that for the arms, stock, carbon, and RPM arms were all in the $8-$10 range. would have figured there would be a greater price difference between it all. did some more looking, and it seems that all of the carbon parts are only a dollar or two more than the stock ones. :)

lol you jus get a lot more upgrades from an associated factory team kit. BUT they dont come with electronics so that kinda sucks.

yeah, i looked at what all it came with. If i didn't have so many other projects going on in the next couple of weeks, the kit would have been a bigger consideration. This will get the parts in small increments. any chance you have one of these, or have any idea what's best to upgrade/take care of first?

on another note, holy cow is the Reedy motor quiet  i've got castle in all of my other vehicles, and never realized how loud they are lol. the reedy doesn't have quite the power the castle has, but then again, it's a 540, not a 550. but it's also a lighter vehicle.

i dont have a b4 as Im the team manager for Team C lol but I do know about the b4's. The best upgrade i would recommend is big bore shocks. Or get a cab forward body from jconcepts of proline for a better look and more steering. start off with like the aluminum arm mounts and stuff like that.

10-4 on the shocks. i was hoping you'd say that to give me the excuse to upgrade ;)

I dig the cab forward look, but how does that yeild more steering? the weight shift can't really be signifficant enough for that can it?

I'm not sure i'm clear on which part you're calling the arm mount...
are those the little pieces that retain the pins that go through the arms?

Its about the "aero" design giving it better steering, not weight transfer

    Yes on the second question

huh, hadn't thought about that. i'd imagine that the effect is mostly seen with straight-line tracking on the high speed sections, since you don't ahve the ground speed in the turns to make too large of a difference?

straight line tracking and coming out of the turns is really affected more by the rear wing. There are a bunch of different types of wings most common sizes are 6.5" and 7". Cab forward bodies will give it more initial steer in. These changes arent really noticeable while bashing but they can make the entire difference while racing.

While i'm sure it will see it's fair share of bashing, i definitely bought it for the track.

big bore shocks on the way.

    question about aluminum hub carriers.....
i have them on one of my other trucks, and have a bitch of a time getting worn out bearings out of them for replacement. makes me hesitant to get them for this one. any of you have a remedy for that? i've started greasing the outter race before putting them in, but haven't really seen that help much.

Crisis averted. Completely forgot that you have to order springs seperately from the aftermarket Associated shocks. Luckily it popped into my head while is was taking my morning meditation/poo break  Hopped on Amazon and bought a few different spring rates to try out. should be here in time to get assemble for another track day this saturday.

Got 1.90, 2.10, and 2.30 for the rear, and 3.00, 3.30, and 3.75 for the front.

figured that gave me at least the range to get me close for the weekend, and i can compensate with oild weight and preload a little if needed, before i can order more.

well, i've got the black fronts and white rears coming in my order, so i'll toss those on first as a baseline. going to start things off with 30wt oil and go from there.

this is the chart i referred to
