difference is that mine will not be scale like that one. I do want to get or build a scale crawler, but with 90* of flex, dual motors, and rear steer with axle mounted servos, this is not the platform to use.

I am glad the wraith is so tough... My dog used it as his chew toy and tried to do a head shake and threw it a good 10 feet

Got the basic shape worked out last night. I used a much larger tube, so even being less than half way done, it's already pretty rigid. there will not need to be the amount of tubing as the one in the picture because of this, but there will be a lot more bracing than in this picture. initial mock-up has my geometry right where i want it. hoping to mount the rear shocks directly to the cage. front shocks will need some serious hoops.

looks awesome! what are you using to bend it? and is that just solder holding the joints together?

yup already saw that jconcepts wing on there lol did you pull the film off of it?

yep, non-lead solder with some good flux. same way i built the push bar for the air boat, jsut heavier duty material. i'm using a brake line bender for the tighter bends, and just bending it around different size cylinders (spray paint cans, mason jars, etc) for the larger diameter bends.

took the film off the wing ;)

much nicer with the high clearance wing. thought it was pretty dumb that the rear tires rubbed the hell out of the wing right out of the box.

Anyone have thoughts on running dual ESCs? Crawler has two motors, one on each axle, but currently only one esc. the result is that on the tougher climbs, the front tires will spin well before the rears even get power (path of least resistance). thinking about running an ESC for each motor, but off of the same channel. i don't want independant contro of the power to the rear wheels vs fronts. rear steer on a separate channel already takes some focus to properly use.

My thinking (just an assumption) is that with two ESCs, while the fronts will still spin sooner as they are not under the same load, that the effect will at least be lessneded. anyone with some thoughts on this? also contemplating swapping over to some 1200 kv brushless crawler motors.......it would keep with the rock bouncer theme :turtleride:

Why not run the esc's with a y harness from the reciever, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I some day want a moa crawler with rear steer and with dual esc's run by a dx5e

that's what i'm saying. two escs going to their own motors, with a y harness to take signal from the reviever, and a y harnes to take power from a single battery.

Minus shock tabs, the rear end is all set up. tabs are in place for the front. just have to line everything up and drill the holes. after that, i'll set up the shocks, make the battery and electronics tray, and then gusset everything up with some more tube work.

    thanks

what do you think about running low KV brushless motors? between the videos i've seen and crawling with the brushless in the summit, i feel like it will work just fine. just curious if you've ever tried it?

I got unsubscribed from this thread, didn't realize it

I have stuck to the 3100kv range for my crawlers. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work just fine, you may need to gear down on the lower side of things, depending on what you wanna do with it. I know theres a guy with I wanna say a 890kv scorpion outrunner whos a member of the mdrcc forum, he loves it. What motor are you thinking of going with?

You could have a torque monster of a rock bouncer if you toss a 1200kv sensored brushless in, that's what I plan on running when I get the time to build one up.

I haven't looked too far into it. I just know there are a number of sensorless 1200 +/- kv setups out there. since i'm not taking this to a track/competition, the direction of the build is much less known than some of my other trucks, so even if it's in the ballpark of working, it's probably good enough for this truck.

Well I'm sure it will work relatively good, may get some cogging at crawling speeds but I'm not 100% on that.
