Being too lazy to read back (I just discovered this thread), what motor and such are you running? Did this start out as an RTR or kit? If you have already mentioned it in this thread some where I'll search for it. haha

It was a kit. Fun build too.
Motor and esc are 3300KV Tazer/Dynamite package.

Nice! I am thinking about picking up a kit to build. I think I am going to cheap out on the motor and get the Turnigy Trackstar 2270kV but spend up on the ESC and get the Mamba Max Pro in case I decide to step up to a 3s motor down the road. I just need to convince the "budget committee"...:ballchain:

Would any of you be interested in my SCX-10 build? I haven't documented anything and it has been slow going, but it's "from scratch" as I knew I'd end up upgrading everything like I did on the Wraith. Missing a few vitals like wheels, electronics and body, but I have lots of other parts and a good skeleton of the frame. I'm of the "buy once, cry once" mindset, so this thing will turn into a money pit just like the Wraith.

Looking at what I am going to be spending total (over $1K...) I think I will just step up to a good 3s now. Any suggestions for a good 3s motor. I'm a complete noob at RC at the moment. I've been doing a lot of reading for the past 2 weeks now though.

    Maybe a Tekin Redline Gen 3 17.5T?

If you want to do any crawling (not just bashing or rock racing), make sure to get a sensored motor. The Redline series are two pole and meant more for onroad and offroad 1/10th scale racing, so although they'd work, there are better options. The Tekin Roc 412 motors (as mentioned above) are four pole (more torque) and fantastic: http://www.teamtekin.com/roc412.html

You could also go with any of the Tekin Pro 4 motors, they're roughly the same, though the Roc are said to be slightly better for crawling: http://www.teamtekin.com/pro4.html

If you want speed, go with the higher kV ratings, such as the Roc 3100kV. It's pricey but you won't ever need more power. Paired with a Mamba Max Pro or RS Gen 2, you'll have butter smooth power delivery too.

I'm looking to do both crawling and some bashing. Part of why I want the twin hammers for that shift servo and the size is small enough that my backyard can still be a challenge. All of the motors I have been looking at are sensored for the crawling. Because the Twin Hammers is so small a lot of guys have been doing fine with 2 pole 17.5T motors for crawling so I feel like going to a torquey 4 pole might be asking to start breaking drivetrain...

Yeah I saw that. I think part of me wanting one is to build it too. Did it start as an RTR or a kit?

Rtr. I'll take it all apart for you. It's got almost enough parts to build a separate roller

Another reasons I want the kit is that it has all metal gears in the trans and diff, which may be nice for when you guys convince me to stick a Roc in there... The RTR's have plastic.

So in my reading a lot of people seem to prefer the pro4 over the Roc412 because they are basically the same motor but the pro4 has a larger shaft. Is there any other difference that I haven't came across yet?
