So would a 2300kv Roc412 on 4s be pretty similar to a 3100kv Roc412 on 3s since the peak theoretical speeds would be almost the same? Or would the 4s one be more torquey and powerful since you have more voltage?

Good question and I admit to have never done a comparison like that myself. The 2300 kV is more torquey out of the box of course but if you threw a 4S at it it'd get some good top end. I'm not sure how it'd compare to a 3100 kV on 3S though. The low speed resolution of the Roc motors is great and they don't cog, so I feel like either option could work. The 4S could feel like it has more punch down low, I think. Now I want to test it ;-)

Here's my little micro Predator sponson home brewed boat. I only had one micro servo and I broke it during the install. So it's only made the one pass across the pond in the woods behind my house. I spent all day yesterday clearing the levee I'm standing on of small trees and bushes and eyeballing the pond. I checked the mail and had my rudder and prop in the box. So I threw it all together and broke the servo in the process.

The CoG is a little far back from what I've read.

Here's the description: Scaled down Predator, 180 brushed, XYZ ESC, Proboat PRB0313 prop screwed onto an airplane pushrod turned shaft. The only micro servo I had on hand broke during the install. So it's rudderless.

I'm stoked it planed out and didn't take on water. I had to put a strip of wide electrical tape on the top because the hatch doesn't fit after I painted it.

R&D Version 2.0 in the build process.

Just some curiosity I had. I was wondering the same for the HH Pullers Pros. With their 50K rpm limit you would be comparing a 3500kv on 3s to a 2200kv on 5s (assuming the motor can handle that voltage). In that case you are talking a lot more voltage but simliar top end rpm limits.

    I found a 87t spur, ECX1076, and the slipper pads, ECX1024.
Center hole was real close to the shaft size on the transmission.
It was actually a few thousandths bigger. I used some .003" shim stock, wrapped one time around the shaft, and was able to get the gear to spin true and fit snug on the shaft. The slipper clamps it nice and tight.
I went from 78/21 to 87/17 and the difference is night and day. I can fit a range of 13t to 32t for pinions now so lots of choices for future use.
On 2s it has plenty of wheel spin and speed for jumping and scrambling and the low range is finally very acceptable for mild crawling with almost no cogging, and much more torque now.
On 3s it shits and gets so I'm stoked all the way around.:D

50k rpm is a no load bearing limit. Your engine will never hit that. Also, 3500kv and 2200kv is also a no load number, you will not get anywhere near that in a vehicle

Yeah I know. With a good brushless setup you can get to 80-90% of that kv rating.

A lot of people either forget or don't think about drivetrain efficiency. You'll get better (and healthier) motor performance if your drivetrain is as free (not binding) as possible. So good bearings, properly assembly, etc.

Anybody have a spare axial body post? I've lost one and wanted to see if anyone had one laying around before I spend $10-$15 on a parts tree with them

I finally got a servo in and took one spin around my little pond before the battery died. It picked up some pine straw on the far side and balled the prop. But version 2.0 has got potential.

All right, fellas. Got some pictures of my Dad's truck. I'm probably going to go with the SCX10 deadbolt for the build. So far I have this stuff picked out.

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009PBUGBI...UTF8&colid=1UBZQA7HFL3E&coliid=I3S3TMDJ015QN1
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004M7YDB4...=UTF8&colid=1UBZQA7HFL3E&coliid=INJRYG4FRQFLP
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009VG1KIA...UTF8&colid=1UBZQA7HFL3E&coliid=I1G3PX0CXPGH74
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JJGLPA...UTF8&colid=1UBZQA7HFL3E&coliid=I1HO9YDJ7957H2

I've never painted an RC body before so this might end up looking like crap. Does anyone know if there is a paint that would match the color of the truck? I'm going to try to make it look as close as possible. Dad is color blind so if the green doesn't completely match, he might not notice the difference. :D100_1925.jpg 100_1926.jpg

Other ideas to make it look more like the original? Also, the wheelbase of the body is 12.6" while the deadbolt is 12", I think. How easy is it stretch an scx10 wheelbase? I may have to go with the honcho which is 12.3", I believe.

    Thoughts?

Really wish I had this guy's talent. This body looks great!

The two tone white and green is easy to mask and paint, the chrome strips and pin striping can be applied to the outside. There are usually stickers with the body for headlights and tail lights.
Tamiya should have a shade of green. The white is easy. It will be a good first project for you.
Hint, wash the body and dry well. Be sure your tape lines are tight or use the liquid mask if you like. Patience taping and masking is the key.
I did this one last night while it snowed. I just use blue painters tape. The kits come with pre-cut tape for the windows.
The headlights, grill and door handles are stickers.

Is the Deadbolt a good choice? There are way too many SCX10s to choose from and I'm not sure what the differences are besides the bodies & wheelbases.

It is a good choice but like all the others there are a lot of mods that can be done to make it better. Overall the scx10 is the same minus small details performance all the same
