Unfortunately I don't have any hobby shops near me. Closest one is around 30 miles away. I've found some RC pinstriping on Amazon.com and may go that route. I'm going to try to do a better mock up in Photoshop on my lunch break. Perhaps if I get the chrome and everything on it will look better.

Try making your own links before you cut the body up. Links are changable, whereas if you cut the body it's permanent.

So I'm thinkin of swapping the pinion gear on my Slash out to the 18 Tooth one that they provide. the manual says for Lipo a 19 T tho..

should I just wait and get a 19 and swap that in? I will be running lipo's as soon as my charger gets here.

    newb question….

Im sure its been answered in here, but 650 pages :annoyed:

Looking for a good AC/DC Charger, that will do well charging mainly 2s 5200mah 30c lipos. Really hoping to keep it right around $100 if possible. Can someone point me in the right direction?:tumbleweed:

The thing you should be looking at is motor temperature, regardless of pinion size or battery. You can throw a 19 in now but make sure the motor stays below 160 degrees F, especially after you put a lipo in.

I never really did want to cut the body and was glad you mentioned making new links. The thought never occurred to me. Ordered some rod ends and will run to home depot to get some all thread & stainless tube this weekend. Been planning to make some for my wraith anyway. Thanks for the idea!

Got my new charger and power supply in today!! Love it.. even tho it took me awhile to get some what use to it. Just time consuming to get settings set up for each battery.

I'll second the recommendation. However, you'll need to get charging leads for whatever battery you use. For example, I have both Traxxas and Axial so two different charging leads. Plus, get he clips for the truck battery if you plan on charging off the truck.

So @Aw9d and I swapped the pinion on my slash.. And threw in a brand new Lectron Pro 2s 5200mah 35c. We changed the truck to accept the lipos..

Holy balls its so awesome. Im so hooked on this thing already. Have to roll into it and not pin it from a stop.

Did overheat the motor a bit.. The truck put itself in limp mode. Pulled the battery and let it cool. Now I know. Fan is in order for sure, as well as keeping a better eye on it.

When we plugged the Lipo back into the charger and it would not charge.. At all. Did we over discharge it?

if your esc was for sure in lipo mode, it should protect it from over discharging.

get one of these things, it lets you know how many volts you have left in your battery, you want more than 3.0v per cell. head over to hobby action off guadalupe and rural, they should have them

 Thanks Paden. ill get one of those for sure. That's where I got my batteries. lol

It was definitely in lipo mode. we both did the change on both our slash's, and double checked each other. haha

we were maybe thinking its just because they are brand new batteries? we did fast charge em for the first charge.... was that our mistake?

some esc's have a different voltage drops for the Lipo and these would be used for different reasons... for instance, one of my esc's has a default threshold of 3.0 volts, but can be set for 3.2 and 3.4 volts as well.
You may want to set the cutoff voltage a bit higher. Full throttle punch will draw a load of amps and cause the voltage to drop as well.

I'm not sure how to explain it other than this..
If I have my Savage set to 3.2 volt cutoff, and running it at full throttle, the battery will hit LVC way before the 30% minimum. They actually are at 50% when I bring it in. I call this a false LVC reading, but I use it.

If I set the LVC to 3.0 volts and run at full throttle, I get a longer run time, but when it finally hit's LVC, the battery is actually at 20% or less  and kind of warm.

Does that make sense? I would rather sacrifice a minute or two of runtime to keep the lipo happy.

Rock crawlers can have the LVC set low as they have such a minimal amp draw at full throttle and long run times are awesome.

Now there are other factors involved as well like C discharge rating, higher discharge ratings will prevent false LVC, but the cost can be a bit high too. You have to find a balance.

I honestly wouldn't set your LVC below 3.2v, preferably at 3.4v if you like your Lipos. You CAN run them down to 3.0v safely, but it does impact the life of the lipo.

In applications that pull high amps, you'll hit LVC and then see a higher voltage when you check it a bit later, that's normal. That's still better for the lipo than trying to squeeze out that last bit of juice. Performance is crappy at low voltages anyway, so you may as well put in a fresh lipo anyway.

And yes, many ESCs have programmable LVCs, some preset and some whatever-you-want. Check the ESC manual.

Exactly what I was trying to say but I didn't come across as well.
I was wondering if he needs a higher LVC cutoff.
