    Oh,.

Yeah, not sure what he means by wrong size tire. I know they're not the standard SC size (2.2" x 3.0"), but I don't race, I bash. Straight 2.2"s are better for bashing. Lots of bashers run that size.

So during my time off for christmas, I decided to take my old Nitro Rustler off the shelf and tear down the .15 engine in hopes of rebuilding it to running order. It is very gummed up. The piston sleeve is tarnished very badly, under the piston the connecting rod barely moves due to all the black gummy buildup. I know that with a lot of time I will be able to clean it but my question to you guys is it worth it? Should I just spring for a new engine or try to refurbish the current one that I have? The crankshaft bearings are shot as well.
The parts I believe I will need are as follows...
    1. Piston Sleeve
    2. Wrist Pin/G spring pro .15
    3. Crankshaft bearings
    4. Possibly a new connecting rod.
    5. Possibly a new Carb
I believe the crankshaft can be saved if I sand it with 1200 grit paper and polish it up nicely.
Here are a few images and thanks for the opinions on this!

Good excuse to get the 3.3 if you can't fix it :D

It may just be easier and possibly cheaper to get a new engine and be done with it

Haha or at least a 2.5!

It's looking that way. Some of the parts are discontinued as well. When I search for rebuild kits I get alot of results for 2.5 upgrade kits instead. I bought this Nitro Rustler back in 1999. If I did upgrade it to a 2.5, would the tranny hold up to the increased power of a 2.5? All of the parts on my rustler are very worn and have alot of play in them i.e. turnbuckles, shock mounts, rear drive shafts etc. Probably going to be one of those buy a new part here and the old part over there breaks. Been a while since I've been into R/C but as I recall that's usually the way it goes.

    Thanks for the opinions guys.

the 2.5 is the same engine as the .15 (same displacement, just different name)

I just took my engine in to replace it with the 3.3 just because. Of course then I had to wait a week for the fit kit to come in and endure the ridicule of my girlfriend the whole time but those are the sacrifices you have to make!

I went into get a few more batteries for my msr and blade 120 since I let them discharged too much.. Ended up walking out with a ParkZone p51 micro. So much fun!! I think i like the planes more than the Heli's. We will see though.

I've just started flying, some. I've got three helis, Eflite CP, MCX and as of today a SR120. How do you like yours? Several of the guys I hang out with (the flying field) have those P51 micros, they look so cool when they put four or five up at any given time.

I like it a lot. It has taken a beating (first heli) and works great. My only complaint about mine is that when you give it a big quick burst of throttle, it doesn't let off for about 1 second after you drop your throttle. Which got me into quite a few odd situations. This could just be my remote or something im doing wrong but its fairly noticeable to me and I'm not that experienced.

If your trying to save it from a crash and slow it down by giving it a blip on the throttle, and that maneuver goes wrong, i have hit a wall or ground with the blades under power even though my stick was at 0 throttle. Kind of hard to explain. I would be curious if you notice this as well. My MSR doesn't do this at all, its very quick to respond to throttle increase, as well as decreases.

How do you like your CP and MCX? I have wanted to get a bit bigger one but figured I should hold off until i get really comfortable.

I've already noticed the "lag" of input that you speak of, proud you brought it up, thought it was me. Helifreaks.com members claim it's a totally different bird with a better radio, (I'm assuming your on the RTF model) a LP5DSM at least. The CP is a pile, for me anyways, (I've got a good buddy that's got a half a dozen choppers) that claims, "one of the hardest I've tried". The MCX is sweet for living room flight, too easy. I love to aggravate my dogs (which aggravates my wife) with it, but can't handle any wind outdoors.
