I know it's been months, but very sorry for not replying. I forgot to check back in on this thread.

I had the chance to test Proline Pro Specs and Powerstrokes (buddy of mine has both) before purchasing and felt I had way better corner control with the powerstrokes. I'm running AE oil 37.5 in the front and 35 in the rear and dig that set up. You'll have to mess with your spring rates a bit depending on the terrain and conditions. The Powerstrokes have been the best money spent of all the hopups I've done. The videos I follow on shock set-up and oil are Jered Tebo and Adam Drake. Those guys have the best tricks, tips and setup videos for RC cars regardless of what you drive.

So I ordered a Savox 2270SG Saturday. Been reading a lot about high torque servos and keep seeing folks recommend a BEC. "Its only $20, blah, blah, blah.."

Most would tell you to get a Castle Creations programmable BEC, which requires a castle link connection bringing the total to $40.

I believe the servo I ordered can operate at 6v and 7.4v. Since I am only running 2s lipos, couldnt I just wire the servo directly to the battery without a BEC? I've read some things about others doing that. What are possible implications?

    I wouldn't bother with a external BEC on a 2s/3s powered crawler.
But maybe there is a use for competition as opposed to backyard bashing.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. Seems like a lot of the advice on rccrawler.com is geared toward comp. rigs running dig & rear steer. I just think they like to spend money...

So can I safely power the servo directly from my battery?
