It wouldn't be unsafe regardless, you might just experience some glitching. If you do.I'm pretty sure I have a castle bec that I can send you for the cost of a bubble mailer from usps.

I see a lot of people say this, but they never give an explanation. I‘m running 2s and have a servo capable of 6 or 7.4 volts. Its not like I need to limit the voltage coming from the battery. So why do I need a BEC?

    I'm not mad, just curious.

Batteries don't always give a constant voltage. They surge which can cause problems.

Are you running your servo power straight from a 2S lipo? That's 8.4 volts when fully charged. Most people run their servo power from the receiver which gets power from the speed control which has a very low amperage output on the receiver wires. They will fry the speed control doing this.

Yep. Straight from battery. From what ive read, lots of folks do it. I hooked it up and it seemed to work well. Ran around my basement for a few minutes and the servo didn't even get warm. Not sure if longer runs will result in anything different.

I decided to contact Savox last night and they did confirm that the servo can be powered directly from 2s. I think i'm good here.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
forgot to post this a while back......

My wife and I went to a great restaurant in Orlando about 8 months ago, called The Boathouse, owned by Disney. really cool atmosphere on one of their lakes, with antique boats out on the docks. essentially a museum. they've also got antique amphibious cars you can go for rides in (for a price of course). but the most interesting part to me was in their store. they had one hundred or so antique/vintage RC outboard boat motors. some electric, some gas. fascinating little things. they were about as tall as a coffee mug. best I can figure is that they were roughly 1/10 to 1/12 scale. they were for sale between a couple hundred, and a couple thousand dollars, and the tag on the case said all motors were in 100% working order

gas powered one with the glow plug coming out the back

    some electric ones

and potentially the most impressive part, was that they had found and restored the full size version of just about each motor they had in the case. I love boats, old and new, and was really close to buying one of the real outboards and the matching RC version, but got the nix from the wife :pout:

    Ahhh. The Magic of Disney.

That is cool, though. They've got a gimmick for almost everyone.
