This, and I couldn't help but wonder how tight that slipper adjustment was.

Slipper being to tight won't cause this. Your gear mesh was off. I use a piece of paper to mesh gears

    Ha... yea...

The thing I'm trying to figure out is.. I set it and left it with a bit of play so this wouldn't happen.. I guess it took a couple hits a little to hard and they inched together. :notsure:

Yes, little to no slip is harder on your gear set, causing excessive premature wear, as soon as one tooth gives up (breaks or wears to the point of a non-mess state) the pinion will eat the rest in a matter of seconds. I agree that it appears mesh was set incorrectly, and prolly caused the castastrophe, but a slipper is for more than traction control.

So now I am hooked on R/C helicopters. My first one is the 120 SR and I love it. Can't wait till I am good enough to move to a CP bird....

I know the feeling. I've been into RC for quite sometime, but have just been bitten by the heli thing as well. I, as well just got a SR, fun little chopper. I posted a pic a page or two back of my helis.

But then wouldn't they not be making contact? Or am I thinking too hard about this?

EDIT: nevermind, just googled it. Thanks!

Yeah, the thickness of the paper is about perfect spacing. This (correct mesh) will also make your gears wear much better, (not a shot). The lower the pitch, the less it does matter though.
