It may be way more than you need but these power lab chargers are great! I can charge just about anything - nimh, nicd, poly, ion, manganese, A123 and 6 to 24v lead acid (flooded, sla, agm, gel). Lithium is up to 6s and unbalanced up to 2s. Although I can understand not needing this large of a setup you can always go with one PSU and a smaller case to cut down on costs and still be able to charge at I think 20a. What's also cool is they can regenerative discharge, so if I'm hooked up to my truck battery when the packs balance out I can have the discharge go back into my truck battery or I can storage/discharge back into my battery :)

Ok now that I'm practically a salesman , it sounds like you have your needs panned out. If you ever change your mind hit me up and I'll build ya one :) thanks for the compliment!

Are those computer power sources you're using?

They are server PSUs DPS-600PB, I'm for sure not the first and only to build this type of setup. I've see people use computer ones before and different model server types. These just have A great reputation for giving exactly what is needed with the least amount of hic-ups.

I meant server. A buddy used to come across a similar type some time back. He works for a contractor for the International Space Station and they had redone one of their systems. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you could wire those up a couple different ways for different outputs?

The general consensus is that since these are not originally intended to be used in this manner the safest and most recommended way is running dual or quad setups in parallel and that's it. You are required to either remove DC ground from one so the cases can touch or insulate one (or both) so they can't touch. I opt for removing DC ground as to not take any chances and I make sure to wire them so that your pulling your charge ground off the one that's still intact.

You will notice I use two switches, I do it this way so that I can turn off the one that has no DC ground and charge off one unit for certain circumstances where I can only use 12v (example: charging an FPV screen directly off the banana leads.)

The comp crawler is cool. I have toyed with the idea of one but moa double motor and rear steer servo hurts the wallet

I almost made this rear steer but the problem is then I would have to compete with a super class and while this thing is pretty stinkin capable it is not THAT capable....lol

You could always build your MOA with cheaper parts and leave out rear steer and then upgrade those down the road!

My hope/intention is to fashion this 1/24 MOA into something like that comp crawler. I'll need to address the suspension, links, cage...basically everything. And figure out some 1" pin tires.

I'm thinking about getting my first rc and am torn between the slash 4x4 and e-Revo. My buddy said go w/the slash because he constantly breaks his revo. So many choices!

Is it better to get the platinum? I'm not sure which one, other than brushless.

Those are both good platforms to start with and will have a lot of customizability should you ever decided to change things around. I would first ask yourself what are you wanting to get out of RC? Decide what you want based off of what style of driving you intend to do and if you want something that's more track capable or more bash capable.

The slash can be converted to a rally if you ever wanted to change things up. I have driven both styles and they handle completely different from one another on and off the track. Some early weak points I'd suggest looking into upgrading are shock mounts and and drive shafts.

The revo is a much better platform for bashing but can also be extensively setup for track use and actually performs really well if you drive good. You can go long travel suspension on it which is cool and the revo can be converted to a truggy type setup also. I'm not keen of them in that configuration. Weak points on the old style revo's were diffs and bulkheads but there are ways to beef the diffs up. Bulks I wouldn't bother with too much, they are cheap and fairly simple to change out. I believe the new style revo's are now using a plastic chassis and I don't have experience with the new style. I will say that if you shim your diffs correctly and stay at 4s you can beat em pretty hard without much breakage.

After your first purchase you will begin to see the world of customization and I believe the desire to bulletproof what you have over time.

If your looking for something to bash and also be able to race/crawl with check out the Axial Yeti XL, awesome platform to get into if you intend to do customizing down the road!
