Yea they are slightly bigger, both wheels and tires. I trimmed the chassis plate some with a file to get them to clear. Maybe a mm worth.

Hoping to pick up a Losi5ive this coming week. A Craigslist find, want to get back into the 1/5 scale scene.

Gawd it's so expensive though, I still have my 5B and have spent thousands on it before I shelfed it. Thought about bringing it back out and priced out what it would cost just to get running again. I was looking at a grand!!! I sadly closed the closet door and walked away. Lol

Ha ha! Yes they sure are money pits. And just like cars/trucks you never get back what you put into them money wise. Sure is fun though.

I see you in Long Island, NY, is that upstate? I have a friend that is from upstate NY somewhere and has invited me to go visit her fam. She usually flies but if they got some good country to wheel in I might have to drive should I ever go!

Nah I'm down state on a sandbar. No wheeling opportunities down here. Hell its hard enough to find a good spot to bash large scale RC.

    Bummer :/

It's not hard to find places for RC around my area but then also it is depending on what you are wanting to find.

I've learned a lot by reading and am leaning towards the slash I guess. I like the durability of the stampede, but think maybe the slash will be better. It will be mostly for my foster son running around the yard and at the park. Hope I make the right choice, lol.

In my opinion if it's for a kid, mostly bashing around in the yard, I'd go with the Stampede. The reason being the size of tires. The monster truck will run through grass and over obstacles way better than the Slash which is aimed more towards the groomed conditions of a track. You can bash with both of course. I think the Stampede will be more forgiving for a child to drive as well. Just my thoughts, YMMV.

Oh yeah if it's going to be more for a youngen than I'd say stampede or slash. I'm not 100% positive if the slash can run with niHm packs but I'm almost certain the stampede can. Reason I bring this point up is charging lipos is something that needs to be learned or taught rather than experimented with. NiHm packs on the other hand are fairly straight forward and simple. Also they won't carry quite the speed a lipo will and will wreck less havoc on the drivetrain.

Check into the power systems and find out what can run both batteries an go that route. Then when you drive you can use the lipos and when the youngen drives he can use niHm. Then slowly graduate into the lipos.

"If" either will run both types of batteries be sure to set the speed control up for li-po. That way you will have a low voltage cut off in play.

There are certainly ESCs out there that will allow it, I just don't know about Traxxas systems as I've never ran them. I have always bought used and rebuilt my stuff and made them how I wanted.

Agreed on lipo cut off, make sure it is set properly. 3.2v is common but to be safe you can go 3.3v or even upwards to 3.5v.

If you wanted too @bulldog I could certainly source out a nice used (whatever you want) and build you a package setup. Wouldn't charge you anything other than the cost of the setup.

My Brother gave me this little antique, I am too scared to run it. 1hp Novarossi on a very stout AWD platform. It's an old Colt Nitro car...

Might be considered an antique now, has to be at least 10-12 years old, which in the RC world...
