This is good advice. The AE-5 in my wraith went up in smoke the first time I plugged the battery (2S) in.

What ever happened with the mission to 3D print a 1/10 scale second gen?

    the commitment... lol

the price.. and the unknown if it will even work.

the size.. there are some things I would have to figure out and do to make it work.

and then actually producing the parts.. need the time, material, etc.

its a dream.. I DO want to try it.. but its not going to be a walk in the park either.

I can appreciate all of the above. Based on the price one pays for a 3D printed RC body on Shapeways, I figured it might cost a fortune to produce. It is always better and more convenient when it is your job to produce the stuff. Just thought I would ask. Still a dream to one day build a 1/10th replica of the 08 Tacoma.

Oh same here man.. Same here.. I love details, and an rc truck of our real trucks would just be perfect and would be so much fun to customize.

    It's a decent sized project.

    -Get the file ($$$)
-Need to dumb it down and take out some of the details, figure out body post locations, etc. (Lots of time)
-Manipulate the CAD file to create a mold, have to split into halves, change geometries, etc.(time)
-Build the tool, probably Machine it vs 3D printing. (time and material)
-Set up Mill, create stock and jigs. (time and material)
    -Pull thermoforms (time and material)
-Pray it works and fits/holds together..

    Lol

Much of that is Greek to me

I know a guy I bought some 3D printed rc stuff from off of Shapeways went through a failure or two in his development process. That said I think he was a guy who was fortunate enough to have cash to burn...

That's pretty much what it is. Just R&D until you get first good one.. After that, it's just pulling/producing the bodies. That's the easy part.

I also didnt think about doing 3D printed rc parts... Hmmm

Nothing I could find yet. I searched again today. Maybe December 1st..:notsure:
I would think they will sell out quick at that price point.

There is some excellent printed parts and scale stuff out there now. Seems to be new stuff popping up regularly. It began with a few hardcore Tamiya guys who were scaling out there Sand Scorchers to the max, but there is tons of stuff for Axial rigs now too. Even Vaterra is getting some love on Shapeways

They likely will sell quick if they come out before Christmas. The more they sell, the more likely it is that the aftermarket produces some nice parts.

I like the brushless sensored Tekin I have in my Twin Hammers. It's quick and has nice smooth start up for moderate crawling. It would not have the torque for pure crawling though. I run Tekins brushed FXR in my R1. It is an awesome crawling system, but not waterproof to my knowledge. I never crawl in the creeks though.

A low kV motor. I run a 2100kV sensorless in my Wraith paired to an AE-3 and it does OK. I'm thinking of dropping down to an 1800kV. My Bomber sports a 2300kV with slightly taller gearing. 20mph on 3s.

This is how I started out with my Bomber. The ESC and motor that come with it are fine to start with, but you will want to upgrade later on. I went with the Castle MMX and Tekin 3500kv Pro4 HD an 5000MAH 3S Lipos. It is sensored and does fine for both crawling and bashing. You can go fast with it, but don't plan on any sudden turns. It's not built for high speed handling..

Be prepared to replace the steering servo with something stronger - it won't last long.

Also, be prepared to sink a ton of cash into mods. No different than the Tacoma..

    Looks sick.

I see you went with a Savox. 2 of my 3 rigs, have Savox (the Arrma Talion truggy and Mini ERevo). I feel like any of the trucks eventually could use an electronics upgrade (servo and ESC). As some of you remember, my ESC died on the Talion. Arrma warrantied it and gave me the upgraded stock unit. I'll run that and when it dies, I'll maybe get a castle unit.

Personally, I like the challenge of being faced with rollovers at high speed. I find it provides more realistic dynamics to the driving experience of these little rigs when u have to check speed before breaking into a turn.

Anyway your Bomber is sweet. You spared no expenses in where it matters most.

Ordered a bomber rtr from rpp hobby with battery and charger. Unfortunately won't be home when it arrives so I won't get the chance to mess with it for another week.
