Just finished up my RC10B6 kit for indoor 17.5T racing on clay off road track. Kit comes slightly underweight (per class rules) in stock trim. Time to add aluminum bits to make weight.

I got my Associated SC28 a few days ago. It's little more than a toy. The steering is slow and but is proportional. The battery is fixed inside and charges off of the Tx. But it is a LiPo battery, although 1s. It's slow and has a straight axle like a go cart with direct drive.

But, for chasing the house dogs around it's a blast. They hate it and it's so small and light it goes everywhere. The wheels are a press fit so when they get balled with hair you can just pull them off and pull out the hair. Front suspension is simply the lower arms...only arms, as there are no uppers.

Reason I came to post. I recently traded my Bomber for an Exo Terra. I felt seller's remorse and have browsed the sale threads of various forums. Today scored a second one in just as good of shape as I traded mine, minus 5 vented tires I'd never use. Sweet deal there especially if the axle housings aren't gnawed up.

    I'm back in a Bomber.

    Update on the Yeti Jr.
So far it has held up to bashing table and chair legs at full throttle with nary a scratch.
Why am I hitting furniture legs at full throttle? Because the steering servo is lacking.
Typical of a ready to run, but this one is really...crappy.

The steering servo is as lackluster as you could ask for. A Savox SH0257 was sitting unused in the parts box and was a perfect spline count and fit for the servo horn. What a difference. It actually returns to center hands off the TX.
The kit does come with extra spline counts for different manufacturers. Definite first upgrade.

I opened up the spur/pinion cover to tighten up the slipper clutch...
it doesn't have one. It's a direct drive down the center. Curious to see how long the drivetrain lasts. The mesh is obtained by a cam on the end of the motor that is rotated then the cover is tightened down from there. Seems to work.
Turns out the "weak clutch" feeling is actually the battery. A 2s lipo will have it doing wheelies, no problem.

Overall, it's a nice little model. removing the right screws (2 of them :) ) will allow the body to "fold" and gives easy access to the electronics, steering components and drivetrain. The RX and steering servo are mounted together. 3 screws will remove both as a unit, then they can be disassembled from there.
The wheels and tires are of nice quality, tires have a good squish and grippy compound.

Front suspension cycles nice. Simple and well done. 0 adjustment.
The rear is basically a built in sway bar. none of the links have a rotational connection. It's meant to travel up and down with minimal angular flex. Seems to work though as it corners well on the carpet at high speeds. Full throttle will have it on it's lid though.
    Handles small jumps nicely.

I haven't had it outside yet, it's in the single digits with more snow than a 1/18th was ever made to handle. Looking forward to running it through the grass.

TL;DR, it's a nice model. Be prepared to change the steering servo.

That's what I'm reading over on RCC. A $200 RTR that has a useless battery and charger, poor servo, and a junky ESC/Rx combo.

Nobody knew until they got one...except the beta testers and they kept quite. Somehow there were 12s of YouTube review videos praising it. Then a week after the release a dozen more dissing its electronics.

I'll be all over a kit version.

What has been listed, is typical of a RTR release. I've never had a rtr of any kind that didn't have the steering servo replaced within days. The SCX10 RTR was the same way. I've replaced every part of the electronics in the last year.

The charger? it's a usb charger. Not much to expect really. It does work though and has indicator lights which is kind of nice so you know when it's charged. I doubt it will get much use though with a PL8 in the house.

I thought the scx10 honcho rtr was decent I got almost a year out of most the electronics before upgrading and I was doing comps and learning/bashing with it. with the yeti jr I saw complaints early on of the servo not being powerful enough to return to center but had hopes it was just isolated. it's beginning to sound like they all need an immediate upgrade for servo esc and rxtx

Pretty accurate review of the Yetl. Which is too bad. Maybe I'll go the kit route.

I'd be curious to see what guys use for electronics in kit form. I'm not entirely up on the latest offerings for a car of this size.
