Well, I'm embarrassed to admit, but I sort of cooked the BR-XL esc I put in the X-Maxx. Got a wheel bound up in a hole and it went poof very quickly. I didn't realize how many amps the DeWalt motor pulls when it stalls.

So today I got a new ESC. Tekin says it should be able to handle the load just fine. The great thing about this esc is if I ever decide to go brushless again, I don't have to buy a new esc. Wish I had known that this esc could do brushed and brushless. I never would have bought the BR-XL.

Finally had a chance to get the Talion out for a run. This thing will wheel stand! And for the speed, it's pretty stable too. I only flipped it once :)

It's definitely built to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

Some pre-defined Timing can be programmed on the esc. Custom timing and the other things you named requires their hotwire programming device, I believe.

My buddy has that ESC in his Tekno EB48.3 race buggy. It's unreal how smooth it is. Great choice.

Great truck. I love mine. I've bashed and raced mine for a couple years. Some wheels and an upgraded servo and that thing can hang with any truggy on the track and still bash with them best of them.

Yea I saw that on rc crawler forum a while ago. I'm not to big on traxxis for some reason.. it does look good tho. It's hmjust hard to beat the reliability and endless aftermarket support on axials

One thing I thought was cool is the battery situation. It comes with a shorting plug so you can run with a single battery. All in all, and for the price, it's a great value.

Ya for sure. When I'm at the track I run a single 4s ROAR pack. I have a couple that it shares with my Losi 8ight -t 3.0. And when I bash I run either the single 4s or dual 3S packs for 6s.

total rc car rookie here, but i have a traxxas tmax 2.5 prob from around 2004 with a serio .18 motor and carbon fiber exhaust I'm trying to get running again. I had it at the local hobby people for 2 years to get fixed and they never go around to it lol. Anywho during their initial diagnostic they said i need new servos and bell crank..are these things easy to fix??

I know very little about nitros, but if you mean just the steering servo and bell crank, then ya that is a pretty easy fix. You could just look up whatever part for the bell crank (probably like $30ish). I'm sure Traxxas sells the part (sometimes they have their own aftermarket/aluminum upgrades as well) and then maybe Hot Racing or somebody has an upgraded aluminum part. And as far as the steering servo, just pop your old one out and plug the new one back into the receiver box. Something like a Hitec 645mg ($30ish also) is a reasonably priced, decent servo for a truck that size. Double check that it fits, but I'm pretty sure that it would. Sometimes an aftermarket servo will be reversed, when you plug it in. Then you can usually flip it in a menu on your radio or esc etc.

You'll have to pull the head and connecting rod/ piston from the engine and likely clean out the dried castor oil residue in there. Unscrew the glow plug and see if the crank will turn free when you rotate the flywheel. It won't start up if parts are sticking together. You'll need a new glow plug for sure. The rest of the electronics are easy to swap out.

hmm ok i might just take it to local hobby shop to see what they say. Originally stopped using it bc i couldn't get it to start anymore. Ez start would spin but the engine would never fire..it would putter and try hard to start but never fully fire.

Bad glow plug, incorrect mix needle settings, or a weak glow igniter can cause these common things.
