Got my Hercules in the mail today. No power, limited steering and quick battery but the kids loved it. Might have to pick up a second to drive around with the 7 year old. I think we both caught the bug and going to look into picking up a legit truck.

The new Toyota from RC4WD is similar. This little one is copied and scaled down from a 1:10 RC from CrossRC. They're pricey but reviewed to be worth the premium.

Ok, just got green lit for a truck for the kid and I, but holy snap there are a lot of options. Looking to spend around $400 for a complete kit (truck and battery). Any suggestions? I was looking at the SCX10 II Trail Honcho (doesn't come with battery/charger), but the kid saw the slash and such and now wants to jump and go fast. She's caught the bug, but I also don't want to be repairing it all the time due to a 7 year old jumping it or running into/over things.

Haha, we went for a hike through the woods yesterday and brought the cheap RC and she loved it. Rolled it down a hill though...

She wanted the crawler, but as soon as I saw the slash she was hooked. Asked if her grandma could get her one for her birthday.

Start her off with the cheaper slash that has a brushed motor, and a smaller battery. When she is ready, you can upgrade it to brushless and a 3s battery later on.

I don’t own a Slash but will vote for the Slash route. Especially since Axial is questionable as a sustainable company right now. Traxxas will be here for a long time and parts ar available at 99.9% of hobby shops. Plus RPM makes good replacement parts l, too.

There would seem to be enough aftermarket parts for Axial that it shouldn’t be that big a deal. Traxxas is a better value for so many other reasons.

there are a ton facebook pages for rc as well, lots of slashes for sale. That was my first brand new purchase into RC, I still have it and I love it...on a 2s lipo, it's plenty fast for me, I bash the hell out of it and it takes it. I've only done a few upgrades to it over the past 5 yrs and it has been very reliable.....as for upgrades, there are too many to name, same goes for bodies. Here is mine...first pic is bone stock brand new the day I bought it..second is with the newer body I painted, you can't see the upgrades underneath, and the third pic is the metal roll cage with homemade body panels that I made for it. Too much fun

Is that an Integy roll cage? I converted mine to a monster and was looking at a cage instead of body.

Picked up a 1/24 ECX Barrage today. Got my 1/16 WPL GAZ as well as the C24 Yoder. Good mail day today. Got the 370 planetary yesterday. Picked up a liter of Maker’s Mark with the change from the Barrage.

Put the C24 body and chassis together. I plan on making new chassis rails out of a piece of a carbon fiber sheet I have. Then I’ll be able to get the mounting points like I need for the transfer case and axle links.

Here it is sittting on the Losi Mini axles and Yeti Jr wheels/tires. Not nearly as much poke as I had expected.

I am enjoying your adventurousness with RC stuff Brake Weight, keep updating your mods with the Barrage and WPL.

Yesterday I mounted a tube bumper up on the F100. Sliders are next

I’ve got a small 370 planetary and a regular 1:1 transfercase. I’m going to attempt at making new chassis rails and then I’ll be able to tuck that up out of the way. I’ll try a simple 20a ESC at first and see if it’ll hold up.

I put a set of TRX-4 wheels/tires on my Twin Hammers as well as an upright shock bracket.
