Yeah I'm going to go through and inspect everything and order whatever needs to be replaced. I will be making a list of broken/ worn parts.

Well 24 hours later, we already broke the truck...haha

Apparently the nut on the back wheel backed off and snapped the wheel hex. Damn kid and her donuts.

Well I got it all stripped down and cleaned up (not real clean but much better than it was). I didn't end up taking the engine all the way apart because the internals still looked pretty good.

    20180211_214318.jpg

A couple things I noticed though.

    Cracked engine mount
    20180211_214222.jpg

And also a crack on the transmission housing.

lol. I'm in the same boat. Got an old Tmaxx 4x4 nitro that's been sitting for over a decade. Once I get time to spend on this project the question will be...to try and free up the current motor or turn in the core to Traxxas for the larger motor that you got and do the conversion. Which I think I might have to lose the 2 speed trans for the conversion. Will stay tuned to see how your motor turns out.

It does look cool. How is the plastic quality on the body? Wheelbase?

The body is great. Wheelbase is the same as the WPL as for the wheels. But the body is a little shorter so that the tires clear.

Cool thing is that the fender liners can be removed from the chassis and installed on the body should you be inclined to swap it to something more capable.

Be warned it’s an odd scale if you wanted to make a scale crawler.

Yeah, I have no clue what I would put the body on. You had given me the wheelbase of the WPL and I wrote it down somewhere, but have since misplaced it.

Well I just ordered most of the parts I need for the slayer. The rest are in stock at my local hobby town so I will pick them up tomorrow. Holy crap I forgot how expensive this hobby is! $150 all together but that includes a couple extra items that I didn't really need. I will be pissed if I can't get it to run after this. Lol.

I just picked up two of these little 1/18 scale helion animus truggies, one for me and one for my daughter. So far, for the money they aren't bad at all. They don't like sand though. I had to take mine apart because sand got in the gear on the motor and caused it to bind up. They move pretty well for what they are and my daughter loves it. It also scratches the R/C itch while I wait for the parts for my slayer to get here.

$100 at hobby town. Plus I bought two extra batteries and a better charger.
