First day out with a new ride. Bought a slash 4x4 roller and put in a castle creations sidewinder 4 w/3800kv motor. Track was a little muddy in spots...

Stopped by to see that new Traxxas Desert Racer. $800. No one seems to have one. One place said it sat for a while (think box sized like an XMAXX) and because of that, they decided not to order another when it sold.

Are people losing interest in bigger trucks? Or finding trucks like Arrma's Kraton/Seton that are better value?

I think the desert racer is just to much money for most. It is not really a basher either. Its not my cup of tea. I am looking for a new revo but they are not in stock. You have to preorder and I do not want to spend 550 to wait with no idea when it will show.

We talked about the Revo and the fact it's way more popular than they expected. We'll see if it gets to the stores sooner/faster.
And yes, I can agree the DR is too expensive but it looks like a capable basher.

Imo i do not think you can send the desert racer to high. Sure you can bash but it is not going to do well with big air.

Too much money for most people. Too big for most people, too. With the Hobbico-Horizon thing going the Arrma may end up phasing out. May. But you never know.

Arrma got bought up so I think they will be fine. They can make money with the brand so I think it will stay around. I would like one of their trucks my self.

The new EREvo was out but word is they put a hold on due to servo issues and some ESC failures. My LHS has both colors in stock but they are just a little hard to come by at the moment. Should be back to normal shortly, from what ppl were saying.

BTW, since I now have a Tekno as my main 1/8 racer, I decided to take my Typhon and make it into a better basher while still keeping my aftermarket racing parts. So it is almost like a mix between a Kraton and a Typhon. i'm happy with the set-up, it's still super agile but not quite a finicky as a buggy. Seems to be a pretty popular thing to do with this buggy, on the Arrma forums.

Thanks. Some guys go with a full on truggy set-up or something like a Kraton/Talion/Outcast 3.8 wheel. I thought that was a bit too large for what I wanted to do, so I did a 2.8. The problem is, there aren't a ton of options for that combo that accept the 17mm hex. So most guys were running this Proline combo, so that is what I bought. I like it. I wish I could do Shockwaves in 2.8 but they only come in 3.8s from what I have seen. I have them on my Erevo, which you can see in the bg of the pics.

X2 it's not a basher I can't imagine that thing go off ramps into the air. Ive taken my 2wd slash to the skate ramps without a problem but that big beast would probably be better off on a open dirt area.

IMG_0133.jpg IMG_0132.jpg A little something to make us old timers feel a little more old.
About a week ago, one of my co-workers gave me 3 boxes of old RC stuff. Mostly parts but also a few
mostly complete cars. A Tamiya Blackfoot, a Tamiya Wild One, 2 odd Kyosho cars and a 1st gen Tamiya Clod Buster.
I'm giving everything but the Clod to a friend's kid. He'll Frankenstein something interesting out of those parts.

Back in the day one could build damn near an entire Clod Buster out of aftermarket parts. Provided they had the cubic dollars to do so

That's awesome. I love vintage rc stuff but rather look at on a shelf then risk wrecking it haha.

On another note I'm working on putting the twin hammers roll cage in the tacoma cab seems like it fits great.

I hear that. I remember spending somewhat stupid money on upgrades for my old .15 T-Maxx. (still have it)
