I'm curious what that round/spherical metal object is, in the back, next to the lighter.

I put in for one last Sunday while working. Servo came yesterday for the dig. Still uncertain on the servo and motor/esc. I feel this rig will be plenty brushed bit damnit I love my brushless rigs too

Holmes Hobbies just released a 5-slot Crawlmaster Sport motor, 540 and 550 size. That and a Hobbywing 1080 would be a great cheap set-up, and very smooth.

I ordered my Capra the other day, I’m going crawler bushed to start off, then maybe go bouncer brushless with it.

I was debating brushless but have decided to cheap out and use what I have on hand. I got a high turn motor, 80t I think, and will use the HW1080 ESC. Servos will likely be robbed from other things as well as wheels/tires. Gonna go 2.2 with it and run some DeepWoods or some old RockGrabbers.

550 cans won’t work. This is of the test rig in the videos.

Didn't read all 800 pages but I've been flying rc planes on and off for 30 yrs. Glow powered only for me. Electric just feels like giving up. Might as well just tool around the driveway in the daughter's Barbie jeep. :D

Yeah 540 limited. I wish castle would bring back the slate motors. Probably buy a Holmes motor and run castle esc.
I hate stealing electronics from stuff.....but I think the 1900kv slate and mamba x would be nice from my venture. I really wish I had another slate...castle  where are they....

I do have an older sidewinder, rtr HPI and a rtr ae5 up there too just to get me by.....I could grab a motor from Holmes I want to run bfg krawler 1.9 and have something 2.2 as well for a high heel setup on this... That puts me to servo. I grabbed the dig already but I may try Futaba or protek

Holmes has it in 540 as well. Key difference from others is it is a closed endbell. But it's only $15 so who cares about rebuilding it anyway.

The HW 1080 is gold. I like it better than my Tekin. If I am going brushed, I see no reason to look elsewhere. Plan to order a couple of these HH as soon as Amain stocks them. Glad to see Holmes continue to release disposable cans

I used to hate the idea of a sealed can when I was younger. Now I don't give a crap - leave it sealed, I don't want to mess with it. I'll be getting the new 5-slot when the trailmaster sport in my TRX-4 gets tired, or I get bored with it.

Still thinking about putting a HW1080 and a 540 version of the new HH motor in my very old SCX10 but not sure if it's really worth upgrading anymore or just doing the bare minimum to keep it functional. The 1080 is way better than its ancient Novak Rooster crawler ESC, but it's still functional and would continue functioning just fine with a HH crawlmaster sport.
