CI puts on comps over in Tyler. Wish I was closer, wish we had a scene local...

Yeah, there’s some folks that hike out there, but I can’t justify 2.5 hours each way for their comp. Would like to catch them at Barnwell Mountain where we can camp and wheel 1:1 also. The main DFW group has taken on CI’s comp rules actually as oppose to the SORRCA type they had previously been running. I typically hit a certain crawler comp series as it has cash payouts.

RC Tech or there are groups on FB that are dedicate to classifieds for certain vehicles. I see you have some Teknos, so there is a group for Tekno classifieds etc. That is probably your best bet.

Well the time has come to an end... My local HobbyTown is closing. This was a hobby shop that had been around since the 80s. It was the place I went to see what locals were into my interests when I first moved here. It was a place I spent most of my sundays while the wife was working. It was a part time Sunday gig. It was a path to a discount on parts I wanted. It didn’t support the locals with events the last few years and the locals stopped supporting the shop... The property owner didn’t maintain the building and the owner was exhausted after a lackluster holiday season..... I’m sad about losing my discount and connection to the local community. I’m sad about my loss of spending money. I am happy for free sundays for the foreseeable future. I am happy for the opportunity for a new shop to open that wants to hold events here in town.... SUPPORT YOUR LHS or you will lose them

Our local Hobby Town closed not too long ago. Declining sales. Low inventory, all the time. If you wanted anything newer, it was slow to come.

    I'm sure on-line shopping didn't help.

Sucks. But we do have NorCal Hobbies in San Jose and they've got most everything you'd want plus they have both indoor and outdoor racing.

I think widespread inventory shops will all be gone in the next ten years. The remaining shops will have a scene they support and their inventory will reflect that scenes needs. No more hobby shops but instead rc plane shops, crawler shop, buggy's and truggy are the shop with the track etc. Our expectations that they have everything is unrealistic. It's not like the 90s when their were 8 cars and a bunch of Tamiya models. Specialty and niche will become the name of the game

Our LHS closed the doors last November. They were a Horizon dealer and pushed a lot of Traxxas. Would get some Axial and had a small selection of replacement stuff. Planes, D&D, puzzles, limited train stuff, and model stuff. No local tracks or any specific scene at all so it was just a matter of time.

That sucks. My local crawler scene in Denver (an hour away) is great but here in northern Colorado we need a shop or someone to organize everyone.

I don’t think this would be practical or sustainable. I’m sure hobby shops will still be around and they might not look the same but I feel like the Walmart’s of the world might offer less help and a smaller selection. When it’s out of favor, online will be your only choice.

Hi, Been following this thread for a while. For Christmas got my son an Axial SCX24 Jeep and a week later I picked up the SCX24 Deadbolt. I'm new to the RC scene and was looking for a battery charger to charge 2 2S Lipo batteries at once and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Also looking at getting a 1/10 scale later on.

What brake weight said above ^

you’ll definitely have to get your hands on a 1:10 scale crawler.

All the local shops left here only support a niche/different scene almost exclusively. The crawl space in Denver and CO springs cater to crawling, mhor and e team support carpet and outdoor dirt track racing(buggies and truggies) the Westminster shop has plans for a rock crawling course and also do indoor funny car racing. You have to support with events. Events bring people to the shop and thing inevitably are purchased on impulse. People will always look online but build a community and that community will break off a five dollar bill to buy for the shop instead
