I'm looking at picking up a 1/24th scale crawler as my first in that type. I was looking at either the Axial SCX24, Panda Tetra K1, or the Element Enduro 24. Not really sure which would be best. I figure I would enjoy the truck as is for a while before making a custom body for whichever one I end up with. Currently drooling over some of the Unimog models I've seen online.

If anyone has any suggestion, I'm kinda hoping there are options for better parts like suspension and such to improve performance on the small scale truck later. I'm not really looking for a 1/10 size crawler yet and I quite enjoy the 1/24 stuff I've seen so far so any advice is welcome.

Also anxiously awaiting the new ARRMA 1/10 Senton 3s BLX, waiting this past week since I discovered it has been a nightmare. I'm gonna buy one as soon as they are available.

I have an scx24. It has been a great little truck. I put a Toyota pickup model body on it and some rc4wd aluminum beadlocks. Not a ton of aftermarket but enough to tinker I think. The element is based off another rig. Just rebadged if I recall correctly. The losi 4 runner looked great too in a mini

I've got the 1/24 ecx (green one) with fpv and the rgt 1/24 (land rover copy). The element is a copy of the rgt, minus some small differences (body, drive shaft uses screws not pins). The ecx is faster, both come with leds, I added the rgt bumpers to the ecx

I also started RC'ing again as an adult (first start with a Frog when I was 8 years old that I recently rebuilt).

If I were you I would buy an ARRMA Senton 3S (or any BLX chassis 3S ARRMA). What sold me was this video - this guys sends it so hard:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVL7chZ5qu4&t=102s

Bought two (one for me and one for the step son). We had a few issues, but they have a two year warranty and pretty much send out parts no questions asked (after a long wait on the phone). Buy through Horizon Hobbies - makes any warranty claims direct and easy. That said if they can stand up to an 11 Y.o. piling on 3S at 50mph, they can pretty much take anything. So much fun!

That's the video that made me want the truck as well. I was considering a 1/16 Traxxas Slash at first but after reading about how fast the brushless motors can burn out on any car I wanted brushless. Then after looking at all the options I decided the Senton 3s was the best bang for the buck around the price I wanted to spend.

I put in my order today at my local hobby shop but won't have it until sometime in September. For now I'm going to be messing around with the SCX24 I picked up and looking for a 1/24 scale model body to make. Gonna be creating my own LED kit as well because I'm sucker for stuff like side markers or warning lights on small scale stuff.

Nice! We're running RedCat Gen8 Scout's for crawlers. Its a great rig as well (though not quite the quality ARRMA, e.g. some leaking shocks, etc.). Haven't broken parts on either rig, but lost an ESC in one of the Sentons due to a rock getting stuck I note fan and overheating multiple times before we caught it. We now put filters on all of our ESC fans for dirt cars. You definitely won't be disappointed in the Senton - on 3S its nuts!

I have come to believe that the quality is in the replacement and aftermarket support not so much the brand of rtr... If you can get redcat parts they should be just as good as any arrma or ecx. The design and engineering improvements as well as cutting edge design is what sets the top tier apart.

Took this on a trade, all I know it’s a losi or something. Anybody know anything about it so I can get parts for it?

Losi makes quality rc's, they are race worthy, durable. If I was you that be one to hold on too. Out of curiosity what did you trade for it?
